This little set caught my eye the other day and for about $20 all together, I couldn’t resist getting it. I mean there’s glitter and bright colors… I can’t say no to that!! I am not typically a big fan of OPI polishes, as I have never had many that wear as well as MAC or Essie, but I am fairly impressed with these. I didn’t end up getting the shatter color, but they’re not really my thing.
Without further ado, I give you some pretty pictures to look at! Happy reading my friends!
Metallic 4 Life: This is a polish with a semi-sheer black base with various sizes of silver glitter in it. It’s pretty opaque after two coats, but it felt chunky and applied pretty unevenly and didn’t feel very smooth. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, but I would definitely recommend applying a layer or two of top coat over it to make it look smoother and not so rough, and of course to make it wear longer.
Save Me: Here we have a really fun, glittery polish that can be used both alone (with several layers), or as a glittery top coat over other nail polishes. It contains both smaller, silver glitter particles as well as long, bar shaped pieces of glitter that appear to be a blue-ish shade and some are a red/orange/golden holographic color. I am definitely digging this, although I haven’t had much time to play around with it yet. I may have to go out and get a bigger bottle because I can see myself using this a lot, especially with all the bright colors coming out for Spring. I would recommend a good top coat over this though, as the glittery pieces can feel a little rough otherwise.
Did it on ‘Em: This is a very bright, neon-ish, chartreuse color. Remember the polish similar to this that OPI came out with when they did the Shrek collection? Yeah, this is really close, but with a hint more neon yellow to it. It doesn’t apply as heavily or evenly as the other nail polishes in this set. It tends to be streaky and it took three layers for me to get even coverage and color payoff. I’m not a fan of shades like this but this one is slowly growing on me… Very slowly.
Fly: It’s a tossup between Fly and Pink Friday for my favorite colors in this collection… Fly is a really lovely pigmented, creamy teal. It’s more on the blue side of teal and it definitely shows up more bold in person than it does in photos. Normally I tend to stay away from blue-ish colors because they make my pale, veiny hands look extremely, umm, corpse-like, which is not flattering. At all. However, this is somehow a warmer kind of teal that’s very flattering on all skintones. Yay!
Pink Friday: Pink Friday is a creamy, candy-pink. It’s a little more on the blue-pink side, but has enough yellow to it too to keep it from looking too cool toned. It’s almost pastel, but bright enough not to be. That all probably sounds like a bunch of jibberish, but it’s not an easy, basic pink color to describe. I’m in love with it for both the color and quality. It applies so smoothly and quite opaque.
