MAC Vera – Plushglasses: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

MAC Plushglasses are one of my favorite lip products. They range from shimmery to creamy, all being quite glossy but never sticky. They are all are on the sheer side and not highly pigmented, though the colors definitely show up well. I typically get about 4-6 hours of good wear out of these before having to touch up. The best part is they’re moisturizing AND plumping! They also have that great, signature MAC vanilla scent, although it seems stronger with this type of lipgloss. Plushglasses also give you this warm/cool feeling as they plump your lips and give you a sexy, glossy pout. This formula even contains vitamin E to help your lips stay healthy and nourished.

Four of the colors in the Vera collection are limited edition, with Fashion Fanatic being a repromote from MAC’s Quite Cute collection. The only one that is a permanent color is Pretty Plush. Some of these sold out faster than other but I believe they are all still available online at www.maccosmetics.com if you can’t find them at a MAC store or counter. These sell for $19.50. They’re a little pricier than normal lipglasses, but it’s worth it with that awesome plumping effect!

Butterfly Dream

Butterfly Dream:   This is a “midtone violet with blue pearl”. It appears darker in the tube as it does on the lips. This is not a color I would normally be attracted to since I already have cool undertones to my skin but I am really into purples lately. Surprisingly, it brightens up my complexion and makes my teeth look super white! This looks awesome alone or paired with a lipstick like Girl About Town or Dish It Up from MAC’s Shop collection.

Confetti

Confetti:   Confetti is one of the brighter, more highly pigmented Plushglasses in this collection. It’s described as a “bright orange coral with soft pearl”, which is pretty accurate. It’s a warm peachy coral color with a softer kind of shimmer than some other Plushglasses have. It’s flattering on everyone. I use this by itself a lot, or over a lipstick like See Sheer, Vegas Volt, or a Lip Pencil like Lasting Sensation.

Fashion Fanatic

Fashion Fanatic:   This Plushglass is a repromote from the Quite Cute collection. I’m glad they brought it back though, as I was nearly out of the first tube I purchased when it came out the first time!   It’s a “creamy pale pink” that contains little to no shimmer compared to the other Plushglasses in this collection. It color reminds me of Turkish Delight from NARS, but it applies more evenly, smells better and plumps my lips, so I definitely prefer it! This looks good alone or over any nude or light pink lipstick.

On a Holiday

On a Holiday:   On a Holiday is a “bright pink with blue pearl”, although it has a warm, almost reddish tone to it and the shimmer is kind of multidimensional… It does show up on the lips more as a pink, but it’s still a very unique, awesome color! This looks amazing on all skintones and I this is one Plushglass that’s perfect for a sexy, plump pout this summer. As with the other Plushglasses, it’s sheer so you can wear it alone or over a lipstick. On a Holiday is very versatile so it goes well over most pinks, reds, purples and even corals.

Pretty Plush

Pretty Plush:   There’s no need to rush out and get this Plushglass if you fell in love with it, as it’s the one and only permanent color that was released with the Vera collection. MAC refers to it as a “extra-soft pink with white pearl”. Extra-soft pink indeed! Personally… It looks more like a warm, slightly pinkish-goldish-nude with multidimensional golden pearl. Either way, it’s a great Plushglass to have in your collection. It’s very sheer and very shimmery, so it’s great for that “no makeup makeup” look or to pump up any lipstick if layered over it.
