MAC Extra Dimension Highlighter: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

These are MAC’s newest type of highlighter. They’re a creamy, liquid to powder formula that wears really well without budging. They’re all warm toned so they’re perfect for summer. Although they’re a liquid-powder formula and they can be applied after powder, I find they they apply most evenly under whatever setting powder you use over your liquid foundation. They can be worn sheerly or you can build on them for a super highlighted, gilded look. Overall I really like these highlighters so far. I just wish the color range was a little bit wider…

As far as placement goes, I typically highlight the tops of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, and below my eyebrow (optional with this product as I typically use eye shadow for that). I’ll try to add highlighting to my list of YouTube videos I plan on making soon.

I did not get Glorify, as it’s too dark to use on myself and I have very similar colors in my kit. I also did not purchase any of the eye shadows from the In Extra Dimension collection because well, I don’t need any more eye shadows and everything I buy to review comes out of my own pocket, none of the products are provided for me like many other beauty bloggers, so I apologize that I am unable to swatch and review the eye shadows too!

Extra Dimension Highlighters are all limited edition and sadly, sold out at many locations within the first day! If you can find them at any MAC store, counter, or online, they sell for $29.

“A liquid-powder highlighter with prismatic reflections that sculpts, highlights and models the face. The cool, creamy near-fluid formula creates a luminous, well-defined finish. Wears 10 hours.”

Superb

Superb:   MAC refers to Superb as a “soft peachy nude with multi-dimensional shimmer”. That’s pretty accurate, although on lighter skin it doesn’t look quite so nude. It’s a peachy-pink nude and looks like a semi-natural, warm, healthy glow on medium to medium-dark skintones.

Whisper of Gilt

Whisper of Gilt:   Whisper of Gilt is a “light soft white with shimmery sheen”. On me, it looks more like a light, warm golden color if applied moderately-heavily. If applied sheerly, the color itself hardly shows up and it’s more like a natural, warm golden glow that’s perfect for an every day highlighter. This color is suitable for light to medium or medium dark skintones, depending on your preference of how light you want your highlighter to be.
