MAC Fashion Sets – Girl About Town Lipstick, Lipglass and Nail Lacquer: Photos, Swatches and Review

Posted by

Fashion Sets is MAC’s newest collection featuring “sets” of matching Lipstick, Lipglass, and Nail Lacquer. The colors were chosen based on how popular these shades of lipstick are in different regions of the world. This set features Girl About Town, a permanent Lipstick and limited edition Lipglass and Nail Lacquer.

All three Girl About Town products are available online, in stores, and at counters and it’s part of both the North America and Latin America/Middle East groups of Fashion Sets. These sell for the usual prices, with Lipstick and Lipglass costing $14.50 and Nail Lacquer selling for $16.00.

Girl About Town Lipstick (Amplified Creme):   Girl About Town is a “bright blue fuchsia”. It’s a very bold, cool toned fuchsia that still appears more pink than purple, despite the blue-ish undertones. As an Amplified Creme finish, it gives opaque coverage and bright color payoff with a creamy, shiny consistency that leaves my lips feeling soft. Since Amplified Creme’s are so intense, Girl About Town gives me around 6 hours of wear before I need to touch up. I like to use Magenta or Embrace Me Lip Pencil or More to Love Pro Longwear Lip Pencil with this shade.

Girl About Town Lipglass:   Like the Lipstick, this is a “bright blue fuchsia” color with opaque coverage. Unlike the Lipstick, this contains a hint of microshimmer particles, which could be good or bad, depending on your personal preference. They layer nicely together and match well, although the Lipglass does seem to have a bit more red to it.

Girl About Town Nail Lacquer (Cream):   This Nail Lacquer matches the Lipstick and Lipglass almost perfectly and is so bright! It’s creamy and opaque in two coats with no streaking.

As with all MAC Nail Lacquers, I get close to 4-5 days of wear without much chipping or tip wear. With a topcoat like MAC’s Overlacquer, it will last closer to a week.
