MAC Fashion Sets – Saint Germain Lipstick, Lipglass and Nail Lacquer: Photos, Swatches and Review

Posted by

Fashion Sets is MAC’s newest collection featuring “sets” of matching Lipstick, Lipglass, and Nail Lacquer. The colors were chosen based on how popular these shades of lipstick are in different regions of the world. This set features Saint Germain, a permanent Lipstick and limited edition Lipglass and Nail Lacquer.

All three Saint Germain products are available online and are part of the Asia Pacific and Europe/Africa groups of Fashion Sets. These sell for the usual prices, with Lipstick and Lipglass costing $14.50 and Nail Lacquer selling for $16.00.

Saint Germain Lipstick (Amplified Creme):   This is a “clean pastel pink”, although I see it as almost a Barbie or Pepto kind of pink. It’s a very bright, light-medium, cool toned pink. Amplified Creme Lipsticks give intense, opaque color payoff and last for around 6 hours without touchups. For a liner, you can use a neutral like Subculture Lip Pencil, or even go with something like Hip N’ Happy or Magenta for a brighter, more contrasting lip.

Saint Germain Lipglass:   This Lipglass isn’t quite a perfect match for the Lipstick. Although they’re close and compliment each other well, it’s lighter, more milky in texture and not as opaque.

Saint Germain Nail Lacquer (Cream):   Saint Germain Nail Lacquer is an almost perfect match with the Lipstick. It’s a thick, creamy, cool toned light-medium pink. It was opaque with two coats, although it still appeared slightly streaky, so I added a third for good measure.

As with all MAC Nail Lacquers, I get close to 4-5 days of wear without much chipping or tip wear. With a topcoat like MAC’s Overlacquer, it will last closer to a week.
