These Lip Pencils are something I was really excited about! There are only three in the Hey Sailor collection so I had to get all of them. The Pro Longwear Lip Pencil line is not that big… There are only 10 permanent colors, so these are a welcome addition. Since these are unique and limited edition (sadface), some locations may be sold out, but these are available at any MAC counter, store, or online. As with the rest of the Hey, Sailor collection, the special packaging makes these lip pencils cost an extra dollar, so they’re $19 instead of $18.
MAC’s Pro Longwear Lip Pencils give me 6-8 hours of smudge-proof wear with opaque coverage and great color payoff. I usually line my lips with these, then fill in with them as well… That gives your lipstick or lipgloss something to stick to and will increase the wear time tremendously. Worn alone these look weird, as they have totally matte finishes.
Saunter: Saunter is a “pale nude beige”. It’s a very light, neutral nude, so it’s not too pink or too yellow. It’s much lighter than Etcetera Pro Longwear Lip Pencil and slightly deeper than Naked Liner Lip Pencil. It’s something like Myth Lipstick. This looks best when worn with nude, light peach or pale pink lipsticks. You can also use this to tone down some lipsticks.
Shore Leave: Shore Leave is a “light vibrant coral”. It’s a pale, pinkish coral that’s bright even though it’s a lighter shade. There aren’t really any other lip pencils from MAC that are close to this color, so this is definitely worth picking up if you like to wear coral and peachy lipsticks and glosses!
Throw Me a Line: Throw Me a Line is a “bright true red” that’s a warm, mid tone, bright red. It looks perfect with both Red Racer and Sail La Vie lipstick that came out with the Hey, Sailor collection and is perfect with Lady Danger too. It’s somewhere between the Pro Longwear Lip Pencils What A Blast!, which is more orange, and Kiss Me Quick, which is a darker yellow-red.
