MAC has a full line of Pro Longwear lip products, with Pro Longwear Lip Pencils being the perfect base for the Lipglass and Lipcreme Lipsticks. There are ten permanent colors to go with nearly every skin tone, lipstick, and lipgloss. There were also three that recently came out with the Hey, Sailor collection, which are mentioned in another post… You can click here to check those out.
Pro Longwear Lip Pencils are highly pigmented, transfer-proof, and last for about 8 hours. These feel creamy and apply smoothly without any tugging. I always like to line my lips, then either fill in with the lip pencil or at least blend them inwards with a brush or my finger so there aren’t any harsh lines. They set quickly and once they do, they won’t budge, so make sure you blend right after applying! For maximum wear time, I recommend wearing these with the Pro Longwear Lipcreme Lipsticks or Pro Longwear Lipglass, although these will help ANY lip product last even longer! The finish of these is somewhere between matte and satin, similar to many of the Pro Longwear Lipcreme Lipsticks. These tend to look more satiny when first applied, then lose some of the satin finish and appear more matte after they are on the lips for a while.
Since these are all permanent, they’re available at any MAC counter, store, or online at www.maccosmetics.com for $18.

Sorry if some of these are fuzzy, these are the first photos I took with my new lighting setup and lens! I am going to try to redo these this weekend using natural light and also get some photos of these on my lips.
What A Blast!: What A Blast! is a “bright orange”. It’s a warm, mid tone, true orange that looks good on any skin tone, as long as you like bright lips! This lip pencil goes well with the Pro Longwear Lipcreme Good To Go, as well as Booyah!!! from the Beth Ditto collection. It also looks nice with the Lipsticks Neon Orange and Morange… You can even use this with Lipsticks like Lady Danger and Sail La Vie (from Hey, Sailor) to bring out the orange in them a bit more.
Kiss Me Quick: This is a “yellow red”, so it’s a slightly warm red. To me, this is more of a mid tone type of red so it’s versatile and can be used with either yellow or blue based red lipsticks and lip products. This is darker and not as warm/orange as Throw Me a Line Pro Longwear Lip Pencil that came out with Hey, Sailor, so it’s better suited for darker lipsticks. Kiss Me Quick looks fantastic with the majority of the red Pro Longwear Lipcreme Lipsticks, such as Prolong and Extended Play. It also works well with Lipsticks like Russian Red and Lady Danger. If you want to wear this under a gloss, I suggest the Pro Longwear Lipglass, Driven By Love.
Absolutely It: Absolutely It is a “soft burgundy”. Although it’s a plumy burgundy color, it’s still slightly warm. This color looks great with Pro Longwear Lipcremes like Made To Last and Faithfully Yours, or the Pro Longwear Lipglass Lasting Achievement. Although it’s lighter than that Lipglass, it still looks great when worn under it and as a liner. It also looks great with Heart Hangover, one of the Pro Longwear Lipcremes that was recently released with the Beth Ditto collection.
More To Love: More To Love is an “intense bluish pink”. It’s a medium-dark, bright fuchsia. This looks great with nearly any fuchsia or bold pink lipstick and looks especially nice with Love Forever! Pro Longwear Lipcreme and Full Speed Ahead Pro Longwear Lipglass. It can also be used as a liner with Dear Diary Pro Longwear Lipcreme that was released with the Beth Ditto collection.
In Anticipation: In Anticipation is a “soft yellow pink”. It’s a bright, medium pink with warm undertones. For some people with rather pigmented lips, this could be your perfect natural “your lips but better” type of shade. In Anticipation goes well with most medium, warm pink lip products and looks great when worn with Sweet Ever After, Soft Shell, Unlimited, and Till Tomorrow Pro Longwear Lipcremes. You can wear this with lighter pinks like Dress It Up and Overtime too, but make sure you blend it or apply it lightly so you don’t have a harsh, noticeable line.
Staunchly Stylish: Staunchly Stylish is a “pinky beige”, so it’s a mid tone, neutral, slightly brownish pink. This would be a good neutral lip pencil for medium-dark pigmented lips, or a good neutral to wear with any medium pinky beige lipstick. If you want to wear this with a Pro Longwear Lipcreme, you could use So Very Good or Sweet Ever After (for a more pink lip), or even Made To Last. Staunchly Stylish would also work with Show Me Pro Longwear Lipglass.
Etcetera: Etcetera is a “creamy beige”. It’s a light-medium, warm-neutral beige that works well with many neutral/nude lipsticks. It’s a bit darker than Saunter Pro Longwear Lip Pencil that was released with the Hey, Sailor collection, but it’s still in the same type of nude family. If you want a Pro Longwear Lipcreme to go with Etcetera, you could use Sweet Ever After or To The Future, although Etcetera is a bit darker than that one, it looks alright if you blend it out. If you have You’re Perfect Already from the Beth Ditto collection, Etcetera can be used with that too. This also looks good under Show Me or Ready Or Not! Pro Longwear Lipglass.
Nice ‘N’ Spicy: Nice ‘N’ Spicy is described as a “pink cinnamon stick” color. If that’s confusing to you, it can also be called a medium-dark, warm, slightly pinky/orange brown (as if that’s any less confusing lol). It’s darker than Etcetera but lighter than Morning Coffee. This is a good neutral liner for darker skin tones. A few Pro Longwear Lipcremes you could wear with this would be So Very Good or Made To Last. You could also layer this under Show Me! Pro Longwear Lipglass.
Morning Coffee: This is a “dirty rose”, that looks something like a medium-dark, warm, rosy, reddish brown. This is also a good neutral on darker skin tones. It looks great with Made To Last Pro Longwear Lipcreme or any warm, medium-dark, neutral type of lipstick. I’ll go through my kit and see if I can find any more lip products that this would work well with and update this in a day or two!
Bittersweet: Bittersweet is an “intense brown” and is the darkest of all the Pro Longwear Lip Pencils. It’s a warm, ever so slightly reddish chocolate brown that would look fantastic on deeper skin tones. This can be worn with Made To Last Pro Longwear Lipcreme if you want to darken the look of the Lipcreme a little bit. It also works with Soufully Rich… I know that Lipcreme is more of a blackened plum color, but when blended well they look pretty cool together. Dark As Night Pro Longwear Lipglass also looks fantastic when layered over this lip pencil!
