MAC Styleseeker Lipglasses: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

One of the things I was most looking forward to with MAC’s Styleseeker collection were the Lipglasses… I know that in some recent collections, the Lipglasses weren’t as pigmented and spectacular as everyone hoped for, but I think these make up for that!

The three new colors are limited edition, and although C-Thru is permanent, it works in this collection so I’ll let it slide 😉 These Lipglasses go well with the Mattene lipsticks that were also released with Styleseeker, so you can layer them… That said, these Lipglasses can definitely hold their own and be worn without anything underneath!

MAC Lipglasses wear for about 4-5 hours on me without needing touchups… Slightly longer if applied over a Lip Pencil or Lipstick. The texture is a slightly sticky, but not in an uncomfortable, annoying way…  It feels less sticky after it warms up on your lips. The tackiness actually makes the Lipglass last and not smudge or wear off easily, so it’s not a bad thing! They have a light vanilla scent but no flavor.

Since C-Thru is permanent, it’s always available and has been around for a while. The other three new colors are limited edition and are available today, August 23rd, at any MAC store, counter, or online at www.maccosmetics.com.  MAC Lipglasses contain 4.8g/0.17oz of product and sell for $15.

I am using a new rating system for products I review, and I am going to rate these all individually, as there are variations and I want to give you all the best review possible!

C-Thru:   C-Thru is a “peachy beige with shimmer”. It’s a warm, light nude with a hint of warm, golden shimmer. As you can see, this is one of those Lipglasses that settles into the lines of lips and doesn’t look too cute alone… I took this photo wearing C-Thru only, but using something like Prep + Prime Lip underneath, or laying this over a lip pencil will help with this problem. Obviously, this is not a highly pigmented Lipglass, so it’s very subtle. I prefer to wear this over a lipstick or lip pencil, but that’s my own preference 🙂

Eclectic Edge:   Eclectic Edge is a “mid tone clean true orange”. It’s not super bright or bold, and it does have some slightly pink undertones to it, but it’s mostly a true orange. It also contains warm, golden micro-shimmer. Unlike a lot of Lipglasses with shimmer, you can’t feel the shimmer in Eclectic Edge… It doesn’t add weirdness to the texture or anything. This Lipglass is SO wonderfully pigmented and has good coverage… It’s not as heavy as Ready to Roam or Restless, but I would say that Eclectic Edge is about 90% opaque. This sort of reminds me of Morange, but with shimmer, and Eclectic Edge is not as deep of an orange. Riviera Life from the Hey, Sailor collection is also very similar, but a little bit more red and darker (not much, though). Since this isn’t a deep, bold orange, I think this would look nice on most skin tones.

Ready to Roam:   Finally, a new red Lipglass!! Ready to Roam is a “midtone true blue red”. It’s definitely a cool-toned red, but it’s not dark… It’s a bright, medium, cool red and it actually has a teeny little bit of warm, red pearl to it, which also helps to brighten it up. The pearl is barely noticeable, but it adds some extra dimension to this Lipglass. The coverage is amazing… This is totally opaque with minimal application of product. It’s also very pigmented and wears well without fading for at least 4-5 hours. It’s similar to the permanent Lipglass, Russian Red, although Russian Red is slightly deeper and lacks any pearl or shimmer. Send Me Sailing, from Hey, Sailor, is also close, but a bit darker and even more cool toned and also lacks shimmer. The color payoff and coverage with Send Me Sailing is not as bold or opaque as Ready to Roam. P.S. Another benefit for Ready to Roam is that it makes your teeth look whiter and it looks awesome on everyone!

Restless:   Restless is described as a “dark burnt bronze”, although to me, it’s more of a reddish, coppery bronze. It has LOADS of gorgeous, warm copper and gold shimmer! This isn’t super fine shimmer, but it doesn’t make this Lipglass feel gritty or add unwanted texture. Color payoff is great, but the coverage is not completely opaque. It does apply evenly, and wears well for over 4 hours. I can’t really think of any Lipglasses that are similar to this, so Restless may be one that you’d like to pick up from the Styleseeker collection! This color is flattering on everyone, but I really love it on lighter skin tones for that drastic, darker gloss look.
