MAC Styleseeker Marche Aux Puces Eye Shadow Duo: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

With the Styleseeker collection, MAC has released a total of four eye shadow duos. I purchased two of them, with Marche Aux Puces being my favorite. The colors are unique and are perfect for fall. I wish that MAC would add these handy little duos to the permanent line… It’s so nice to be able to grab a little palette with two eye shadows in it when I’m in a hurry!

Chessa                                                                  Indie Spirit

Both eye shadows in this duo are nicely pigmented. Indie Spirit is a bit drier and takes a more work to blend than Chessa does, but it’s still a lovely color. With the right brush, it applies well and evenly. You can really mix up the placement with these colors and play around with them. They work well in so many ways! Currently, I’ve been wearing Chessa on the lid, Indie Spirit in the crease. Along with this, I like Ricepaper (Retrospeck from the Culturalized Duo also works nicely) on the inner corner of the eye and Embark just on the outer corner of the lid, to add some dimension. You can blend this all out with Texture for the perfect warm, dramatic eye for fall! The great part is that look works well with ALL skin tones!

The Marche Aux Puces Duo is limited edition and is available now at www.maccosmetics.com or at your local MAC store or counter. Each duo contains two normal sized MAC Eye Shadows (1.5g/0.5oz each), and costs $27.50. That’s a savings of $2.50 if you bought two eye shadows separately, or a savings of $5.50 if you bought eye shadow refill pans and a duo palette to put them in… Not that you could with these, since they’re limited, but the point is this is a money saving way of getting eye shadows!! All MAC Eye Shadows give me 6-8 hours of wear alone, and even longer with a primer like a Paint Pot underneath.

Chessa (Veluxe Pearl):   Chessa is a “midtone golden orange”. To me, this is a warm, medium, golden citrus type of orange. It’s not super bright, but it’s definitely bold enough to get noticed. Chessa is a Veluxe Pearl finish, so it’s smooth, has a slightly metallic sheen, and is nicely pigmented. It applies so smoothly and evenly with great color payoff. I so wish this color was permanent! I can’t really think of any that permanent colors that come close to Chessa 😦 I wish there were some, because this eye shadow is gorgeous!

Indie Spirit (Matte):   Indie Spirit is a “chestnut brown”.  It’s a medium, warm brown with slightly reddish-orange undertones. This eye shadow has a Matte finish, so the texture is slightly dry. Not all Mattes are dry like this but Indie Spirit seems much drier than others… Unfortunately, that makes it slightly difficult to blend out and makes the color payoff and pigmentation less than impressive. That said, with the correct brush you can accomplish an even application, like a MAC 239 or 217 brush. I prefer this as a crease color, but it can certainly be work in whichever way you want!
