You may recognize these highlighters from their previous release back in March of 2012 with the In Extra Dimension collection… They were SO popular that they sold out nearly instantly last Spring, and the same thing happened this time around too! Hopefully you are all lucky enough to have purchased these… If not, keep looking around. They’re definitely worth hunting for!
Extra Dimension Skinfinish is a really unique type of highlighter… It’s a liquid-powder formula that feels cool and creamy, yet has the final finish and staying power of a powder. They have the smoothest, most luxurious texture I have ever felt with a highlighter and blend beautifully. I get around 10-12 hours of wear with these, which is better than any other powder or cream highlighter I’ve tried. I personally like to apply these with a duo-fiber brush like a MAC 188 so it’s easily blended without putting on too much product at once. Extra Dimension Skinfinish has a soft glow when applied lightly, and a more truly metallic finish when applied more heavily or with a damp brush (which will make these appear super shimmery, pigmented, and metallic… which is probably not for a day to day look).
These are limited edition so sadly, they won’t be around for long. Extra Dimension Skinfinishes contain 9g / 0.31oz of product and sell for $29. I know that www.maccosmetics.com is currently sold out but call around and check at your local MAC stores and counters! Also, I am not certain if they will restock the supply on MAC’s website, but there’s always a little chance that may happen with products like this, so you may want to keep checking on there. Also, these have the glossy Glamour Daze packaging… But the ones that I own and photographed are from the March release so they have the typical MAC black packaging.
TIP: If you cannot find these, the Extra Dimension Eye Shadow called A Natural Flirt, which was also released with the Glamour Daze collection is VERY close to Whisper of Gilt! That would be a close dupe and a good highlighter as well. I’ve even used it for that purpose on clients and it looks nearly the same, if not better on light skin!
Superb: Superb is a “soft peachy nude with multidimensional shimmer”. It’s a light-medium peachy pink highlighter with warm, peachy golden tones of very fine shimmer to it. When applied heavily, it definitely looks more of a tan sort of peachy pink, but when blended out you notice more of the pink tones. Either way, it’s a warm, pretty highlighter that’s perfect for light-medium to dark skin. On pale skin, it appears more like a frosty blush, while on deep skintones, it can look slightly ashy.

Whisper of Gilt: Whisper of Gilt is a “light soft white gold with shimmery sheen”. This is the lighter of the two Extra Dimension Skinfinishes, making it best for pale to medium skin. It’s a very light, soft yellow toned gold with a warm, white golden sheen. As a pale to light skinned girl, this is my absolute favorite highlighter of all time! It gives such a gentle, natural type of glow to the skin so it’s perfect for whatever kind of look you’re creating.
