MAC Glamour Daze Lipsticks: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

There are five new, gorgeous lipsticks in MAC’s Glamour Daze holiday collection. There is a wide variation in the colors, from light to dark, neutral to bold, so there is bound to be something that catches your eye… For me, all five caught my eye! I know I have said it in the other posts for the products in this collection, but everything goes SO well together! The Glamour Daze Lipglasses can be mixed and matched with these lipsticks to come up with great combinations… The other thing that I noticed is that the lip products also go well with the blushes! For me, that’s kind of important because I like my lips and cheeks to compliment one another. Yeah, I have makeup OCD…

I tried to keep these in alphabetical order like I usually do but I had a brain fart and mixed these up. Oops.

MAC Lipsticks are high quality, well pigmented, and smooth to apply with a light vanilla scent but no taste. All of the lipsticks in the Glamour Daze collection are limited edition and are available now (if you can still find them) at your local MAC counter, store, or online at www.maccosmetics.com. You may also be able to find these on MAC retailer’s websites such as Nordstrom, Macy’s, or Dillard’s.

The Glamour Daze lipsticks come in a special glossy black tube that goes with the rest of this holiday collection. Because of this packaging, the price has been raised to $16.50 rather than the usual $15. These lipsticks contain 3g / 0/1oz of product in each tube.

Beauty

Beauty:   Beauty is a “pale cool pink” with a Glaze finish. It’s a very light, cool pink but it’s nearly neutral. Although it has a Glaze finish, it felt and looked slightly frosty to me. I don’t get as much longevity out of Glaze lipsticks, so this only lasted about 3 hours on me before I needed to touch up. Also, since it’s so light, it tended to emphasize the dry areas on my lips when worn alone, but it didn’t so much if I applied a lip moisturizer or Prep + Prime Lip underneath. This color is best suited for people with pale to medium skin. If you’d like to top it off with a Lipglass from this collection, Pink Fade would look nice. As for a liner, anything light and neutral will work but I prefer Subculture. Dervish would also work if you want a more defined, pink outline.

Dramatic Encounter

Dramatic Encounter:   This is the darkest of the Glamour Daze lipsticks and is a “deep purple” with an Amplified Creme finish. It’s a deep, rich purple with serious red/burgundy undertones. It’s nearly opaque, applies incredibly smoothly, and lasts for a solid 4 hours for me. I like to use this with Nightmoth, Vino, or Currant Lip Pencil. If you’d like to top this off with a Lipglass from the Glamour Daze collection, you could use Flight of Fancy. Although this is a really dark color, both purple and darker lipsticks are trending for fall/winter, so no matter what your skintone is, you can pull this off!

Glamourdaze

Glamourdaze:   Glamourdaze lipstick is described as a “mid tone creamy plum” with a Cremesheen finish. It’s a medium, warm, slightly pinkish plum with a creamy, moisturizing texture. I get opaque coverage with this lipstick and it lasted about 4-5 hours on me before I needed to touch up. You can use a neutral liner like Spice Lip Pencil with this, or something more pink like Dervish. Staunchly Stylish Pro Longwear Lip Pencil also looked nice with Glamourdaze Lipstick. As for a Lipglass, Deliciously Demure works well, adding a hint more medium nude color and shimmer, or Impossibly Sweet to add some soft golden shimmer. Since this is a medium, neutral-ish lipstick, it looks great on everyone!

Innocence
*sorry for the used, scuffed up look… I wore this to work all weekend long*

Photo taken in natural light

Innocence:   This is a “soft coral” with a Frost finish. It’s a light-medium, warm coral with a soft frosty shimmer. With Innocence, I got around 4 hours of wear before it started to fade. It has true to tube color payoff and nearly opaque coverage. The only downside to this lipstick is that, along with many other Frost finishes, it tends to make my lips feel slightly dry by the end of the day and can emphasize dry areas if you don’t use a lip conditioner or primer first. For a Lip Pencil, you can use a neutral like Subculture if you want a more subtle, natural outline to keep your lipstick in place… Or you can kick the color up a notch and use Lasting Sensation Lip Pencil to help bring out the coral. If you’d like to pair this with a Glamour Daze Lipglass, both Impossibly Sweet or Talk Softly To Me would look nice. Since this is a medium, bright type of lipstick, it’s suitable for all skintones.

Outrageously Fun

Photo taken in natural sunlight

Outrageously Fun:   Outrageously Fun is a “midtone magenta violet” with a Cremesheen finish. It’s a bold, bright, medium, cool toned magenta with amazing color payoff and opaque coverage. Since it’s a Cremesheen formula, it has a nice sheen and stays creamy and smooth the whole time it’s on. I got 5 or 6 hours of wear with this lipstick before it started to fade. With Outrageously Fun, I like to use Magenta Lip Pencil. I don’t really think this needs a gloss over it, but if it’s a bit too bold for you, Pink Fade Lipglass from the Glamour Daze collection would tone it down a bit. This color is the most unique and universally flattering lipstick in the whole holiday collection, so I suggest picking this up ASAP if you can!
