On January 31st, MAC released two new Viva Glam products… Woohoo! Both are part of their collaboration with the current celebrity Viva Glam spokesperson, the outrageous and colorful Nicki Minaj!
Every cent of the sale price of MAC’s Viva Glam products goes toward helping men, women, and children all over the world who are living with and affected by HIV and AIDS… Not only are you buying an awesome lipstick and lipglass, you’re giving to a good cause!
Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipstick and Lipglass are both limited edition, but should be around for a while. Most Viva Glam products that are “limited edition” stay around for a year or more… Or however long that celebrity is the current Viva Glam spokesperson. The Lipstick contains 3g / 0.1oz of product, while the Lipglass has 4.8g / 0.17oz. Both sell for $15. Since the proceeds go to charity, MAC PRO discount is not available with the purchase of Viva Glam products. These are available now at any MAC counter, store, or online at www.maccosmetics.com. MAC Lipsticks and Lipglasses have a subtle vanilla smell but no taste.
Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipstick (Amplified): This lipstick is described as a “vivid pastel lavender pink” with an Amplified finish. It’s a light, cool toned, lavender hued pink that has amazing color payoff and goes on totally opaque. You can apply this softly if you don’t want such intense color… Applied heavily it tends to show dry or chapped areas (like my lips have right now). It’s surprisingly flattering on a lot of different skintones and can be transformed depending on which liner you use with it… I’ve tried everything from Dervish, Plum, Magenta, Embrace Me, Nightmoth, Currant… The list goes on and on! I got around 4 and a half hours of wear with this lipstick before it started to fade at all. Worn with a liner, you can get a longer wear time.

Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipglass: Like the Lipstick, this is also a “pastel lavender pink”, but has a much softer kind of color payoff and a bit more warmth once it’s on the lips. It’s not completely opaque, but has decent color payoff for a Lipglass. It has a hint of shimmer to it, but doesn’t look TOO shimmery. Since it’s a little warmer and easier to wear than the Lipstick, I think that more people will prefer to get this Lipglass. It can be worn alone, over a liner, or over the Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipstick (photo of the two layered is toward the top of this post). Like other MAC Lipglasses, it has a slightly sticky texture, but that makes it wear well… I got about 3-4 hours of wear before I noticed any fading.
