MAC Fashion Sets are bold brights with a modern edge… They’re coordinating sets of products that include a Lip Pencil, Lipstick, Lipglass, Nail Lacquer, and Eye Shadow that are all the same color. I only purchased the lip products, so there will only be reviews and photos for those… Sorry!
Not everyone wants to be totally match-matchy but it’s fun to do monochromatic looks sometimes… It’s definitely not considered a “makeup don’t” any more!
My favorite part of Fashion Sets are the lip products, since it’s always nice to have a coordinating liner, lipstick and gloss… I do like the Eye Shadows and Nail Lacquers too, I just didn’t think it was necessary to add to them to my collection or kit.
Since the Eye Shadows and Nail Lacquers are totally different products and textures than lippies, they aren’t perfect matches to them… That said, they don’t have to be a perfect match for a monochromatic look to work. They’re all high quality and nicely pigmented so they work well on their own and get a big thumbs up from me!
All three of these lip products are limited edition, although I am hoping these return as permanent like some of the products from Fashion Sets of 2012 did. Fashion Sets are available online now atwww.maccosmetics.com and will be for sale at MAC stores and counters on Thursday, April 4th. Each one of these products sells for the usual $15. MAC Lipsticks and Tinted Lipglasses are lightly vanilla scented but have no flavor.
Silly Lipstick (Matte): Silly is a “bright cream pink” with a Matte finish. It’s an intense, medium, nearly neon pink that’s almost neutral but looks slightly cool toned once it’s applied. It looks warmer in the tube and when swatched. Like the other Fashion Sets Lipsticks, Silly has a slight sheen at first but it faded quickly on me, turning into a true Matte finish in less than an hour.
I got totally opaque coverage and awesome color payoff with Silly. It felt especially creamy and applied evenly without feeling dry at all. This Lipstick gave me just less than 6 hours of wear before it began to fade. Since this is a Matte Lipstick, it can emphasize chapped or dry spots on the lips, so I suggest applying it over something like Prep + Prime Lip to smooth and even out the texture of the lips.
Silly is a unique Lipstick and doesn’t have a dupe that’s all that close to it… Candy Yum Yum is a little darker but is much more cool toned. Pink Nouveau is also more of a blue based pink and has a considerable amount of sheen because it has a Satin finish.
Silly Lipstick is limited edition, contains 3 g / 0.1 US oz of product and costs $15.

Silly Lipglass: This Tinted Lipglass is described as a “bright pink cream” with no shimmer. It’s a medium, bright, creamy pink that looks slightly cool toned and blue-based once applied to the lips, although it looks warmer toned or at least more neutral in the tube. It’s a tiny bit cooler toned than the coordinating Lipstick is, but MAC matched these two products really well!
Silly is mostly opaque and gives fantastic color payoff. It feels thicker and creamier than many other Lipglasses so it applies easily and wears well… It wore for just over 4 hours on me before it started to fade. The only issue I had with this Lipglass is that it settled into the lines on my lips a tiny bit when I applied it without a primer, so I would definitely suggest using Prep + Prime Lip before you put on this Lipglass.
I can’t think of many Lipglasses that look similar to Silly… Pink Nouveau would probably be the closest but it’s more blue based/cool toned and is lighter and brighter.
Silly Lipglass is limited edition, contains 4.8 g / 0.17 US oz of product and sells for $15.

Silly Lip Pencil: This Lip Pencil is a “bright pink” with a matte finish. It’s an absolute perfect match to the Lipstick in every way… Including in the way that it looks warmer toned than it really is! On the lips it’s an ever so slightly cool toned, medium bright pink.
This Lip Pencil had a drier texture than the others in the Fashion Sets collection so it didn’t apply all that smoothly… It skipped and tugged a bit, but that’s not uncommon with many types of lip liners. You do want some degree of dryness so they wear well! It had great color payoff and wore for 7 hours before it began to fade, so that made up for the drier texture. I did apply this over Prep + Prime Lip, which may have extended the wear time by an hour or so… It also helped it apply smoothly with no tugging.
Silly is really different from any Lip Pencil that MAC has, either permanent or limited edition, so there aren’t any dupes that I can think of… If I find one I’ll be sure to post it!
