MAC So Supreme – Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tints: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

Part of MAC’s newest lip collection, So Supreme, includes a brand new, limited edition product… Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tints. You may remember the Sheen Supreme Lipglasses of the past, but these are a bit different…

Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tints

These new glosses have the same type of packaging as the Sheen Supreme Lipglasses that came out early in 2012, but are a heavier formula and lack the lightweight, classic glossy feel and shimmer that the previous Sheen Supreme Lipglasses had. That said, these are Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tints… So I don’t exactly think they’re meant to be a super glossy, intensely pigmented type of formula. MAC describes these as a “high shine, creamy lightweight formula that tints lips with long-wearing colour. PH pigments work with the body’s natural temperature for fresh, custom colour. Features clickable, pen-style brush applicator. Tint glides on effortlessly”. To me, these definitely differ depending on who is wearing them… As for how that has to do with PH or temperature, I don’t know exactly how that works, but it does seem to make a difference somehow. They aren’t as pigmented as you think they might be, unless you apply quite a bit of product with certain colors. Of course this isn’t a heavy type of gloss, so layering the product isn’t difficult to do and doesn’t feel uncomfortable or overly sticky.

In the tube these are nice, bright colors, but once applied, they give most people a hint of color, shine, and leave behind a bit of a stain. I actually like the fact that they stain because I feel like I don’t have to touch it up as often. One tip for application… These don’t wear very well over lipsticks. I’ve tried it and they sort of just wipe the lipstick off and smear it around. Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tints do best when worn alone, or with/over a liner. They have a pretty thick, tacky (but creamy) consistency that really clings to the lips well and wears for around 3-5 hours before needing a touchup. Alone, these give a nice, natural bit of color and sheen. However, if you apply too much without a liner, these can feather and bleed outside the lip line and cause some smudging. I prefer to apply a liner, then the Lipglass Tint. It gives it more definition, color, and keeps it in place longer!

The So Supreme collection was released Thursday, July 25th and is available now at MAC counters, stores and online at www.maccosmetics.com. All of the Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tints are limited edition. These contain 2.5 ml / 0.08 US fl oz of product and sell for $20.

TIP:   When you first get these, click them about 5-10 times, then set it upside down for a bit for the product to run to the end up the applicator. If it doesn’t appear, click 3-4 times at a time, then wait a moment before doing that again. Don’t make the mistake I did at first and click the tube 30 times, only to discover that your Lipgloss has pretty much exploded and half the product is in the cap next time you open it!

Blushing Berry

Blushing Berry

Blushing Berry

Blushing Berry:   This is described as a “mid tonal cool red”. It’s a medium, strawberry red in the tube, while on my lips, it looked softer and more of a pinkish berry red. It has good color payoff and coverage without settling into the lines in my lips. As you can see, these don’t have a ton of shine, but I really like the way that Blushing Berry gave me a “my lips but better” sort of look. I definitely think this is something I’ll be keeping in my makeup bag at all times!

Bubble Gum:   Bubble Gum is a “soft warm pink”… On my lips, when applied lightly, it gave me a hint of a light, warm pink color that’s slightly milky but not in a way that settles in the lines of the lips. It gave really good color payoff and coverage for such a light lipgloss and seems to have more gloss than some of the other Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tints in this collection.

Glorious Intent

Glorious Intent:   This is a “warm plum” that is one of the deeper toned glosses in this collection. It’s a medium to medium-dark, somewhat cool toned berry color. It gives good color payoff with very little product (I don’t have much on in this photo), but I feel like Glorious Intent may not be as opaque as some of the other Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tints. It does give more coverage and color if you add more product and doesn’t feel sticky even if you have quite a bit on.

Gwi-Yo-Mi:   Gwi-Yo-Mi is a “midtonal raspberry”. It’s a soft, warm, medium pinkish berry color. On me, it’s like a brighter version of my lips, which I like. It gives good color payoff, although the opacity isn’t 100%. Overall, I really like this color and I think is probably one of the most natural and universally flattering of all the Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tints.

Heart & Seoul

Heart & Seoul:   This Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tint is described as a “warm peach”. To me, this is a medium, warm toned, pinkish coral on the lips, although it’s much more orange/peachy on the brush. This gloss is pretty sheer, so the coverage isn’t fantastic, but the color payoff makes up for it and shows up well! This isn’t as glossy as some of the other tints in this collection, so it wears a bit longer.

Kiss, Kiss

Kiss, Kiss:   Kiss, Kiss is a “cool peach cream” with high gloss and fantastic color payoff and coverage. I didn’t have to apply much at all to get it to show up this well! I can’t say that I see any coolness to this… To me it’s more of a medium, warm peachy pink that looks more pink on the lips than on the brush. Either way, this is a great gloss and definitely worth adding to your collection!

K-Wow

K-Wow:   This gloss is described as a “soft cool pink”. it’s a light, milky, cool toned pink. Because it’s so light and milky, it can settle into the lip lines a bit, but it doesn’t do it nearly as much as normal Lipglasses do. Despite the fact that it’s so light and creamy, it gives amazing color payoff and totally opaque coverage with a high gloss finish.

Simply Wow

Simply Wow

Simply Wow:   This is a “mid tonal cool mauve”. To me, this is a medium, cool toned rosy pinkish-plum. It gave good coverage with little product and looked nearly opaque, though not completely. The color payoff was also great. Simply Wow isn’t as glossy as some of the other Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tints, so it wears for quite a while without fading. Out of all the glosses in this collection, this was one of the best!
