MAC Temperature Rising – Lipglasses: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

Temperature Rising was released as the major summer collection this year and came out in late May. It’s full of beautiful, shimmering, sultry color that all work very well together. Although it may be sold out at most locations, I know that some still have a few items leftover. Even if you can’t find these specific products, hopefully I can help you find something similar!

Like the rest of the products from Temperature Rising, these Lipglasses have the matte bronze packaging and boxes. I love this packaging and prefer it to the brighter packaging that past Summer collections had. I feel like these look more mature and sexy, which is perfect for Summer!

Temperature Rising Lipglass Box

MAC Lipglasses typically give me about 4 hours of wear before I need to touch up. They’re a somewhat thick, slightly sticky formula, but the stickiness isn’t so noticeable after the Lipglass warms up and melts onto your lips a little bit. The texture of MAC Lipglass is very creamy, giving great color payoff and coverage. These, like other MAC Lipglasses, have a subtle vanilla scent but no taste. For a longer wear time, I suggest wearing a liner with these. You can also use something like Prep + Prime Lip to extend wear time and make these apply easily and not settle into the lines on your lips.

All of the Temperature Rising Lipglasses were limited edition, but may (cross your fingers) still be available at some locations. Due to the special packaging, these cost $16.50, rather than the typical $15, even though they contain the same 4.8 g / 0.17 US oz of product that other MAC Lipglasses do.

Liquid Passion

Liquid Passion:   This is a “creamy nude” with a creamy finish. It’s a light, warm pinky-peach toned milky nude. Like many light, milky glosses, this can settle into the lines on the lips a bit but Prep + Prime Lip seems to solve that problem. It has great color payoff, nearly opaque coverage and wears for about 3-4 hours before fading (longer with a liner). I feel like because this is so light, it’s best on pale to medium dark skintones.

If you want to wear this with a liner, I suggest Naked Liner or Subculture Lip Pencils for pale to light skintones or Etcetera Pro Longwear Lip Pencil or Spice Lip Pencil for light to medium dark skintones. You can also alter colors like this by wearing any kind of brighter liner. For a lipstick to layer under this, you can use any nude, pink, or peach, but Altered Beige (also from Temperature Rising), works perfectly with this Lipglass!

Dupes:   The best permanent dupes I could find for Liquid Passion were Myth (not as peachy), Peachstock (slightly darker), or C-Thru (lighter and more of a true nude).

Rhythm

Rhythm:   Rhythm is a “vivid magenta violet with pearlized pigments” and a soft, shimmery finish… It’s a medium, slightly purple fuchsia with loads of multi-dimensional shimmer. Obviously it’s not as intense on the lips as it is in the tube… It gives more of a tint than anything, so I would definitely consider this to be semi-sheer. The color payoff is good, though, and definitely adds a bright pop of color to the lips. Even though this is sheer, I got a solid 3-4 hours of wear before it began to fade.

If you’d like to use a liner with this for more color or just to keep in in place, Magenta or Beet Lip Pencils look pretty, or you could even do Embrace Me if you have that one. You can also layer this Lipglass over Feel My Pulse Lipstick, also from the Temperature Rising Collection.

Dupes:   I can’t think of any permanent dupes for this, unfortunately… I know that Astral Cremesheen Glass from the Heavenly Creatures collection in June of last year was pretty close.

Soft Serenade

Soft Serenade

Soft Serenade

Soft Serenade:   Soft Serenade is a “mid tone neutral pink with pearlized pigments” and has a very shimmery finish. It’s a medium, slightly warm, soft pink that’s full of pearly, reflective shimmer particles. It has great color payoff but isn’t completely opaque. I got 4 hours of wear before it started to fade.

You can use nearly any neutral or pink liner with this… Some you could try are Whirl, Soar, or Dervish Lip Pencils. You can layer this over nearly any nude or pink lipstick, including Altered Beige from Temperature Rising, or even Caliente or or Sheer Seduction if you’d like to tone those down.

Dupes:   Soft Serenade is nearly identical to Viva Glam VI Lipglass, which is permanent… Viva Glam V is also close, to play around with those and see which you prefer!

Underdressed

Underdressed:   Underdressed is a “bronze plum with multi-dimensional pearlized pigments” and contains lots of shimmer! It’s a medium, warm, coppery plum with shimmery particles that reflect copper, pink, purple, and gold. The color payoff was good, although the coverage was only about 75% opaque. I did get a little over 4 hours of wear before I noticed any fading occurred.

As with Soft Serenade, there are a lot of liners you can use with this… Spice, Chestnut, Dervish, Soar, Whirl, and Plum Lip Pencils would all work, depending on what color in the gloss you want to emphasize the most. This looks very nice when layered over Caliente Lipstick from this same collection.

Dupes:   I honestly can’t really think of any glosses that are perfect dupes for this, but it’s somewhere between Money, Honey and Get Rich Quick Dazzleglasses from MAC.
