MAC Divine Night – Fluidlines: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

Posted by

MAC’s Divine Night collection is the color collection that was recently released for Holiday 2013. It’s full of shimmery, rich looking colors and the Fluidlines are no disappointment! There are a total of three that came out with this collection. One (Macroviolet) is permanent, so I will not be reviewing that one, but the other two will be included in this post.

MAC Fluidlines are an “Ultra-smooth, gel formula that provides the precision of a liquid liner with a silkier, softer finish”. They’re a very smooth, easy to apply formula that wears all day without smudging or flaking. I’m not a big fan of liquid liners, but this gel formula is thicker so I feel like it’s easier to control. While there aren’t waterproof, they are smudge-proof on most people (unless your eyes are excessively watery). I don’t recommend these for the waterline, especially these shimmery ones, but they do wear well on both the upper and lower lashlines.

For application you can use so many different brushes… It really depends on personal preference. For a smaller line with more control and detail, a MAC 210 brush will work well… A MAC 209 is also suitable and is a bit bigger, so you’ll get a thicker line. My favorite brushes, especially for a winged look, are the MAC 263 or 266 angles brushes… It’s very easy to get the perfect wing with these! I’ll actually try to post a tutorial soon on how to get a perfect wing using these products 🙂

The Divine Night Fluidlines are limited edition and are available now online at, as well as at MAC stores and counters. These sell for $17.50 (a little more expensive than usual, due to the beautiful special packaging), and contain the typical 3 g / 0.1 US oz of product.

TIP:   When storing your Fluidlines in your makeup case or drawer, make sure they’re upside down with the label up! This will keep them from drying out.

Deliciously Rich
Deliciously Rich

Deliciously Rich:   This Fluidline is a “shimmering dirty taupe”… It’s a medium-dark, warm toned taupe with loads of multidimensional bronze and golden shimmer. I love this Fluidline because it’s soooo shimmery and perfect for holiday or any other time you want a pop of shimmer. The color payoff is great! I got nearly opaque coverage with Deliciously Rich and about 12 hours of wear before any smudging occurred. Since the shimmer particles in this Fluidline are a little large, I prefer a 266 angled brush to apply this with so it goes on as smoothly as possible.

This color was previously released this year with the Indulge collection, so it’s a repromote… You may want to check your collection before you purchase this in case you already have it!

Dupes:   There aren’t really any Fluidlines I can think of that are similar to Deliciously Rich, but Lord It Up Pearlglide Eye Pencil is very close. It may be a pencil, but it’s very smooth, shimmery and wears all day!

Stares & Speculation
Stares & Speculation

Stares & Speculation:   This is a “dirty olive with gold pearl”… It’s a medium-dark, neutral, slightly olive toned grayish-brown with warmer, almost golden shimmer. When applied, the shimmer gives this Fluidline a nearly foiled effect… It’s so beautiful! I got great great color payoff, opaque coverage, and around 12 hours of wear with Stares & Speculation. This applied very smoothly since the shimmer particles are very small.

Dupes:   I can’t think of any off the top of my head… It’s a pretty unique color and definitely worth adding to your collection if you like Fluidlines!
