Dose of Colors: The Snuggle is Real Matte Liquid Lipstick Holiday Set

I know, I know, I’m a bit late posting this but just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean there aren’t still great makeup sets out there made for an amazing value! This is one of my favorites that I picked up last month. The best thing about this set is that these are NOT minis, they’re full sized! They’re also just very wearable for day to day looks and   look flattering on just about everyone. I’ll get into a little more detail about the formula and stuff below, so keep scrolling down to read more!

If you’d like to keep up with me and check out any new makeup I’m playing around with, you can follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat, all of which are lesley_makeup. I love staying in touch with my readers, so don’t be afraid to hit me up on there if you have a product question or just want to say hi!

NOTE:   I ran out of natural daylight today, so dupes and liners for this set will be posted sometime this weekend! I know it was supposed to be sooner than that but I’m SO behind this week and there’s no natural light by the time I get home!

Left to Right:   Let’s Cuddle, Lazy Daisy, Warm & Fuzzy

The packaging is super cute and makes a great gift, no matter what the occasion (including the treat yoself kind of gift)! All you need to do it pop a bow on it and BAM you’re good to go!

The formula is consistent throughout all three liquid lipsticks as well as consistent with Dose of Colors’ Liquid Matte Lipstick formula, as in the permanent range of colors. It’s liquidy and not too thick or creamy, but it’s not so thin that you can’t easily get full opacity. These Liquid Matte Lipsticks are incredibly pigmented so even though the formula may seem slightly thinner than other brands of matte liquid lips, you don’t have to use a lot of product to get even coverage. What I like most about this formula is that it’s VERY comfortable to wear and never makes my lips feel or look dry or cracked like a lot of matte liquid lips do, especially in the winter time. As always with any liquid and/or matte lipstick, I do suggest gently exfoliating your lips and moisturizing them before applying this product… Just be sure to let your lip mask or balm soak in for a bit, then blot off any excess before you apply your Liquid Matte Lipstick so it doesn’t compromise the finish or wear time. These liquid lipsticks seem to be transfer resistant but not transfer proof, and if you eat anything greasy (pizza, salad dressing, etc), it will break down the product and cut down on the wear time.

The applicator is a pretty basic angled doe foot type that’s just fuzzy enough to pick up a lot of product, but it’s not so fuzzy or big that it makes application difficult. Most of the time, I don’t even need a liner with these to achieve a clean, precise look. Each one of these is a little different as far as color payoff, coverage, etc, but I’ll get into that in the individual reviews below.

The Snuggle is Real set contains three full sized Liquid Matte Lipsticks and sells for $29 from the Dose of Colors website. Each liquid lip contains the usual 4.5 g / 0.16 oz of product for a total of 13.5 g / 0.48 oz for the entire set. All of the permanent shades of Dose’s Liquid Matte Lipsticks sell for $18 each, so by getting this set, you’re saving $29! That means this is HALF the price it would be to buy three individual liquid lips. This is a limited edition set, though, so get it while you can!

Dose of Colors is a cruelty free company and all of these Liquid Matte Lipsticks are vegan as well as paraben free and gluten free!

Let’s Cuddle

Let’s Cuddle:   This is described as a “warm beige” and is a medium, very warm toned, peachy nude with a soft matte finish. I feel like on people who are more tan or have a deeper skin tone than I do (I was MAC NC20-25 when this photo was taken), this doesn’t show up quite so peachy-orange. On the plus side, the warmth of Let’s Cuddle makes it very wearable for dark to deep skin tones, even if you may have to add a little bit of a liner to help it blend in more naturally. Using a liner with this is also helpful to tone down the warm, peachy-orange hue if you’re more fair skinned, like I am.

Like I mentioned earlier, the formula is great and feels somewhat thin and liquidy so it applies easily. It also doesn’t dry down super fast so it gives you some time to make sure it looks even and precise. Despite the formula being a little on the thinner side, color payoff is great and Let’s Cuddle is highly pigmented. I got a fully opaque application without having to use much product. Overall, I got about 7 hours of wear with Let’s Cuddle, though it did start to fade just in the center of the lip after about 5 hours.

Lazy Daisy

Lazy Daisy:   According to the Dose of Colors website, this is a “dusty mauve taupe”… It’s a light-medium, cool toned dusty, rosy pink with a soft matte finish. I think this would be most suitable for fair to medium-dark skin tones, since light, cool toned colors may cause people with deeper skin tones to look a bit washed out. That said, you can always warm this liquid lipstick up by adding a liner to the look!

It felt the same as Dose of Colors’ other Matte Liquid Lipsticks and applied without any issues. It’s hard to tell how these truly look in tube because it’s a frosted type of plastic, but color payoff is great and looks the same on the lip as it does on the applicator, though  it did look a bit warmer on me, which probably has to do with the fact that I have very pigmented lips to begin with. Coverage was full and opaque using little product. I noticed some minor fading in the center of the lip after about hour 4 and a few cups of tea, but the overall wear time was between 7 and 8 hours.

Warm & Fuzzy

Warm & Fuzzy:   The description for this liquid lipstick says that it’s a “warm rose”, which is pretty spot on… It’s a medium, warm toned pinky rose shade with a soft matte finish. Since it’s not very light or cool toned, this is the type of pink that makes the perfect every day kind of lip color for any skin tone and any age! It’s definitely my favorite out of this trio.

Warm & Fuzzy has the same feel to the formula as the other Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipsticks and is easy to apply. This particular color seems even more pigmented than the others in the set and the color payoff looks just like it does on the applicator. It also gives fully opaque coverage with only one dip into the tube for both my top and bottom lip. Wear time was nearly 8 hours, but I did notice some fading in the center of the lip around hour 5 or 6.
