Shayla x Colourpop: Neat Freak Ultra Glossy Lip

I’m so glad that lip glosses are becoming a thing again, especially ones like Neat Freak! As I mentioned in my previous collection roundup post, this whole collection is very cohesive… Every product works well with every other product, and everything works for anyone of any skin tone, which I feel is really important, especially for a collaboration with someone who has such a large following.

The formula for this gloss is really nice, and is consistent with other shades of Colourpop’s Ultra Glossy Lip formula. Neat Freak doesn’t feel sticky or heavy, although the teeny little micro-glitter particles can feel a bit I don’t know, gritty(?) at times. I discovered that applying a lip balm first, like Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask, helped prevent it from feeling like that without altering the color, consistency, or wear time of the gloss itself. The color of Neat Freak is gorgeous and I love how it can be worn alone or on top of any lipstick or liner to add a little dimension and shine. I’ll get into more details below, so keep reading!

Also, if you want to keep up with me on Instagram, Twitter, or Snapchat, my name is lesley_makeup on all three platforms. I love hearing from you guys and I always use those to post updates on when I’m making blog posts and what I’m testing out or loving lately!

Note: If the photos look weird or different, or straight up bad, it’s because my good camera officially died in the middle of shooting this collection. Some of these photos were taken with it, and some were taken with my cheap little vlogging camera which I’m not used to using yet, so my apologies for that!

Neat Freak can be purchased on www.colourpop.com and sells for $6. It was also available with the bundle, which includes both highlighters, all three lipsticks, and the Perception eye shadow palette for $59, but I’m pretty sure the bundle is sold out and I’m not aware of a restock for it at the moment… But everything is still available individually! It contains 3 g / 0.11 oz of product, which is almost twice as much product as other brand’s similar glosses contain *cough*MAC Dazzleglass*cough*, but this Ultra Glossy Lip costs about a third of what many of those glasses do!

Colourpop is a cruelty-free company, and this particular product is also vegan

The packaging is very “Shayla” and is a light purple/lavender with rose gold metallic accents that make it pretty and feminine, but it still had a little edge to it. The tube/component itself also has the same rose gold splashes of color and logo on it. Neat Freak’s applicator is your typical doe foot type of wand, which I had some trouble getting product out with at first, but after the second or third time wearing this gloss, it seems like the applicator began to gather the usual amount of product, so I wouldn’t say that there are any points lost for that.

Neat Freak is described as a “peachy champagne with pink and gold glitter”. It’s a sheer, golden champagne nude type of color with warm, peachy undertones and multidimensional gold, pink, and almost purple hued micro glitter. Like I said before, this is the type of gloss that you can pop on quickly by itself, or layer on top of another lip product, so it’s very versatile.

This gloss feels comfortable and actually a bit nourishing and moisturizing without being too gooey, and applies very easily and evenly. As I mentioned though, you can sort of feel the glittery bits unless you apply a balm first. Of course the color will not look the exact same on the lips as it does in the tube, and it will look different on everyone, depending on the pigmentation of your own lips and how you wear it, but it will still add a bit of peachy-nude color with shimmer to whatever lip look you’re going for. It’s very sheer, but you can layer it for a little more coverage and color payoff. I actually got about four to five solid hours of wear with this gloss before it started to lose it’s wet looking sheen. Even then, the shimmer stuck around, so it’s not something you have to worry about touching up all the time.
