First off, let me just say that I’m really excited about this post! This is a brand that I discovered on Instagram (@timelosangeles), and have been wanting to try out FOREVER! I just recently bought both of their liquid lipstick bundles, the brush set, a few pairs of lashes, and some other goodies, all of which I will review soon. I love supporting smaller, independent brands because they honestly put their heart and soul into their work, so it’s always awesome when I find a new one that has really high quality products, which TIME Los Angeles most certainly does!

I feel like everyone who loves makeup is into liquid lipsticks these days and especially with the holidays coming up, these bundles make the perfect gift (even if it’s for yourself, which I fully support)! The Cool Spectrum Bundle that I’m reviewing in this post contains more neutral and cool toned nudes, mauves, and even a few deeper shades that are great for fall and winter. I also reviewed the Festive bundle, which has more reds and warm toned shades that are ideal holiday colors… If you want to check that out, you can go here:

As usual with products and formulas that are new, or new to me, I’m going to go pretty in depth with this post, so if you just want to see the rundowns and photos for each shade, keep scrolling down!

I hope you all enjoy this post and as always, thanks for reading! If you’d like to keep up with me and check out everything I’m testing or playing around with, you can follow me on Instagram @lesley_makeup , twitter @lesley_makeup or add me on Snapchat, which is also lesley_makeup. I love staying in touch with my readers, so don’t be afraid to hit me up on there if you have a product question or just want to say hi!

Left to Right:   Baby Ghoul, Luxe Life, Pink Buttercream, Suedie, Grave Danger, Hangry

You can purchase these Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks individually for $16 or you can buy the whole Cool Spectrum Bundle for $60, which is a really good value. If you bought them all individually, you’d spend $96, so getting them all at once in the bundle will save you $36! Mine came in a cute little bag with pink TIME Los Angeles tissue paper which I tossed and forgot to photograph (oops). If you want to pick up any of these, you can head over to www.shoptimela.com. Also, miss CEO herself, Ashley Wagner (aka @ashleyswagnerxo on Twitter and Instagram or missashwag on YouTube), has a discount code for 10% off which is ILOVEASHLEY, so that helps if you want to save a little money.

Each one of these Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks contains 6.3g / 0.22 fl oz of product. When compared to a great deal of other brands that use nearly the same size of component/tube, these actually contain half again to twice as much product. When purchased as a bundle, they also cost about half the price as a lot of liquid lipsticks from very popular brands, but the quality of these is equal to, if not better than SO many higher end lippies! Another thing to consider is that these liquid lipsticks are cruelty free and vegan, which is always a major plus!

According to the TIME Los Angeles website, “This whipped, creamy, and lightweight formula applies to the lips and sets to a matte finish that lasts for hours!” In my opinion, this formula really is fantastic! It’s SUPER comfortable and lightweight and didn’t dry out my lips, even after wearing it all day, all week long while I’ve been testing them. While it may be thinner and more liquidy than some liquid lipsticks out there, it’s not runny at all… It’s also not goopy or sticky, so it’s VERY easy to apply. It sets and dries down to a matte finish quickly but still gives you enough time to play around and blend it out if needed. Because this formula isn’t thick, you can also layer it even after it’s set, without it doing that weird thing where it balls up and turns into a clumpy disaster on your lips.

Only one shade in this bundle was very slightly patchy but overall, the coverage and quality was consistent between all six liquid lipsticks. They all applied with the same texture, color payoff, and opacity and wore ALL FREAKING DAY (aka 8-12 hours) with minimal touchups required. I also noticed that I never got any lipstick on my teeth when wearing any of these. I think the lightweight formula just magically clings to the lip somehow, because that’s usually an issue for me when I were liquid lipsticks! I’ll go into more detail about all of this stuff below in the rundown for each individual color.

I pulled this from the brand’s website, and it’s a nice little tip to have!

“Directions: Using the applicator wand, apply liquid lipstick to top and bottom lips, one at a time. Do not press lips together! Let dry & slay for the rest of the day!”

The applicator is your pretty typical doe foot seen with most liquid lipsticks and glosses, but it’s very precise and easy to use, even if you have smaller lips. As usual with liquid and matte lipsticks, if you have any chapped or dry areas, exfoliate first with a gentle lip scrub, pop on some lip balm, then blot the excess off before applying your liquid lipstick. You can also use a primer like MAC’s Prep + Prime Lip, which is silicone based and made to be worn under products like this.

PS: One more tip to having your lips look full and healthy… Drink plenty of water! I know that’s something I’m SO bad about doing, but it’s SUPER important to stay hydrated, especially this time of year when the air is drier. Trust me, you skin will glow and your lips will look amazing just by keeping up with a healthy intake of H2O!

The packaging and boxes for these is super cute but not overdone or too flashy. The TIME Los Angeles logo is also really unique and classy and can be found on the boxes as well as the products themselves. Ingredients are listed on each box and they’re all the same… The only difference between each shade will be the actual pigments used in them, which is where the “may contain” part comes in. One thing I noticed is that these contain coconut oil rather than palm oil which makes me VERY happy, since palm oil contributes to major deforestation where a lot of endangered species, like orangutans, live.

Baby Ghoul. Photo taken indoors using indirect sunlight + a ring light.                                                (I plan on redoing some of the lip photos once it’s not cloudy outside btw)

Baby Ghoul:   On the website, this is described as “a pale ‘ghouly’ cool-toned nude best suited for fair-light skin tones”… It’s a pale, mostly cool toned true nude, although it pulled a bit more neutral toned on me. I do feel like in person, this looked cooler toned. Anyway, this dries down to a completely matte finish and because it’s so pale and nude, PLEASE be sure to exfoliate and moisturize those lips before wearing a color like this! Also, drink water and stay hydrated because if you don’t, your lips can show lines a lot more, like mine do here lol.

The texture was creamy and not too thick, just like all of the Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks in this bundle. It applied evenly and had wonderful color payoff and nearly fully opaque coverage with one quick layer. Wear time with Baby Ghoul was just over 5 hours before it began to fade in the center, and about 6-7 hours before I noticed it fading around the edges. As for the rest of my lips, it didn’t budge for about 9 hours. I only had to touch up after eating. Using a lip liner will extend the wear time and give you a more defined look.

Dupes:  NYX’s Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Corset is the closest dupe I found but it’s still a tad bit warmer and more mauve. Delicate Lust is also similar in color, only it’s cooler and darker. Baby Ghoul is honestly pretty unique and I couldn’t find another liquid lip that I have that comes very close to it.

Liners:   You can really use any nude or cool toned nude liner with Baby Ghoul… A few of my favorites are StripdownStone, and Whirl Lip Pencils from MAC… Stripdown is a little darker more brown, Stone is darker, cooler, and more of a greige, while Whirl is close to my natural lip color and is more of a cool toned mauve. A few other liners that works will with this liquid lipstick and are similar in color are NYX’s Nude Beige Lip Liner, or Melt Cosmetics’ AllDay/Everyday Lip Liner in Nudist.

Luxe Life

Luxe Life:   This is referred to as a “neutral peachy nude best suited for fair to medium skin tones”, and it’s a light, mostly neutral peachy nude with a perfectly matte finish. On me, it look a little more on the peachy side of the spectrum but I think depending on your own undertone and the color of your lips, this shade could pull either warmer or cooler on you. While I agree that this is best for fair to medium skin tones, I think that skin tones a little darker than that could pull this off with the right liner!

Like the other Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks, the texture was lightweight and applied very easily, giving great color payoff and full coverage with one layer on both the top and bottom lip (as in I dipped the wand into the tube once for each). I got about 5 to 6 hours of wear before I had any issues with fading, which was mostly in the center at first. On the rest of the lip, this shade hung on for a solid 7 to 8 hours.

Dupes:   Jeffree Star has two permanent Velour Liquid Lipsticks that are close, but aren’t quite perfect dupes… Celebrity Skin is more mauve, while I’m Nude is a little lighter and more neutral. That formula also feels heavier and more dry, to me anyway. ABH’s Stripped Liquid Lipstick has a slightly warmer, more peachy undertone. There are also a few of NYX’s Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks that are close… Corset is darker and cooler toned, Baby Doll is lighter and more pink, and Satin Ribbon is pretty close but is still a little more mauve.

Liners:   Nudist from Melt Cosmetics is one of my favorites to wear with this liquid lip. NYX’s Beige and Natural are also really nice, with Beige being nearly the same color and Nautal being a bit darker. MAC’s Lip Pencils in Stripdown, which is a cooler type of beige, and Whirl, which is a cool type of mauve, are great too. I imagine for medium to dark skin tones, you could try wearing Luxe Life with something like Chestnut Lip Pencil from MAC to blend it out to a nude ombre type of look.

Pink Buttercream

Pink Buttercream:   Pink Buttercream is described as a “warm peachy-pink nude best suited for fair to medium skin tones”. It’s definitely a light, warm toned peachy-pink and is one of the best nudes I’ve found for myself when I’m NC10-NC20 in MAC terms. So many colors like this can turn into a chalky looking, washed out mess once they set to their matte finish but Pink Buttercream still looks vibrant, even though it’s still quite nude! When worn by itself, I think it could be too light for anyone deeper than medium to mayyyybe medium dark BUT that’s what lipliners are for. I honestly think that just about anyone except maybe deep, cooler skin tones can wear this if they want to add a liner and blend it out to a more ombre-nude type of look. This shade doesn’t pull cool toned at all, so that makes it even more wearable if you have a medium dark to deep skin tone and want to give it a shot!

This Luxe Matte Liquid Lipstick has the same fantastic texture as the others from this bundle and applies like a dream. I found this to be the most pigmented of the three lightest shades, so it gave me awesome color payoff and coverage using very little product. Wear time was about 5 hours before I had to touch up in the center. It held on to most of my lips for 8 to 9 hours and only began to fade around the edges around the 7 hour mark.

Dupes:   ABH’s Milkshake Liquid Lipstick is a VERY close dupe, though it can look a little lighter on the lips for some people. It’s the closest one I found, though. NYX’s Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Baby Doll is slightly more peachy-brown toned, while Satin Ribbon is more pink. Jeffree Star’s Mannequin Velour Liquid Lipstick is more mauve, and I’m Nude is lighter and a little more pink. MAC’s Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Lady-Be-Good is close, especially with the way the formula feels, but it does have a more peachy-brown undertone.

Liners:   Whirl Lip Pencil from MAC is PERFECT to wear with Pink Buttercream because it’s similar to a natural lip color and shouldn’t look too bright or too cool toned. NYX’s Mauve is also really nice. Both Whirl and Mauve are a little darker but they’ll add some dimension to the lip, which is typically a good thing with lighter lipsticks. NYX’s Nude Pink and MAC’s Dervish are a both warmer and more pink if you’d rather not tone down the color of this liquid lipstick, but still have some definition.

Suedie

Suedie:   On the website, this is referred to as a “light warm-gray, suede-nude best suited for fair to dark skin tones”. It has a true matte finish and is a light to medium, pretty neutral, slightly gray toned brown-nude. On me, it’s more neutral to cool toned, but I feel like this is going to look different on everyone, depending on the undertone of your own skin, which is a good thing! I love colors like this because they’re always flattering no matter who puts them on and Suedie is definitely a color that can be worn by anybody, especially if you play around with liners to customize this to be the perfect nude for you!

It has the same texture as the rest of the Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks in this bundle, applying easily with no patchiness or streaking. Color payoff is fantastic and coverage is completely opaque without having to apply much product. Wear time was around 4 to 5 hours before it faded in the center of the lip, and like most of these, I got about 7 hours of wear overall.

Dupes:   MAC’s Cafe Au Chic Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour is a pretty close dupe for Suedie, though it may pull warmer on some skin tones. NYX has two Lip Lingeries that are sort of close too, but Delicate Lust is more gray toned and Honeymoon has a slightly warmer, almost mauve undertone. ABH Sepia Liquid Lipstick is a little darker.

Liners:   Again, Melt Cosmetics’ Nudist AllDay/Everyday Lip Liner will work well with Suedie, but it’s a little lighter and more nude… It sort of just gives you definition without interfering with the lip color itself. NYX’s Nude Beige Lip Liner is honestly almost the exact same color. A few Lip Pencils from MAC that I like to use with this liquid lipstick are Stripdown, which is slightly lighter and cooler, Stone, which is cooler toned, and Chestnut, which is a bit darker but is great if you want an ombre look or have a medium dark to dark skin tone.

Grave Danger

Grave Danger:   TIME Los Angeles refers to this as “a dark cool-toned gray-taupe shade suitable for fair-medium skin tones”. In this photo (which is one that needs to be redone), it’s reflecting my ring light, but it does have a matte finish once it sets. It’s exactly the shade as it’s described to be and I would definitely agree that it’s probably best for fair to medium or maybe medium dark skin tones. If you have deeper skin, this is so cool toned that it could wash you out BUT as always, you can play around with liners and see if it works for you!

Grave Danger felt extra buttery and smooth for some reason and applied easily. It’s very pigmented, so a little bit of product goes a long way and will give you perfect color payoff and coverage. I feel like this particular shade really clung to my lips and lasted about 5 to 6 hours before I needed to touch up, and closer to 8 or 9 before it really started to fade. In the above photo, I had been drinking coffee, so the fading in the center is from that.

Dupes:   The closest dupes I found for Grave Danger are both Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours from MAC… Simply Smoked is close, but a teeny bit darker and has more of an almost plum undertone to it. Flesh Stone is also similar, but a little lighter and has a warmer, more brown undertone. Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Liquid Lipstick in Sepia is very close too, but slightly warmer. NYX’s Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Honeymoon is sort of close, but definitely doesn’t have the color payoff or coverage and has a hint of warmth to it.

Liners:   All of the liners I like to use with this liquid lip are MAC Lip Pencils… First off, Stone is an obvious choice and is very similar in color, so you won’t get a ton of contrast with it. Plum is also really nice and will bring out any plummy-gray tones that Grave Danger has. Chestnut is a good choice if you’d like something a bit darker and more neutral. A few others that I had fun playing around with were Currant, Vino, Nightmoth, and Cyber World, all of which have more wine-stained to purple tones, so it changes things up a bit for a more vampy, ombre lip.

Hangry

Hangry:   Hangry is “a deep burgundy brown shade suitable for fair-deep skin tones”… Like the others. it has a matte finish, although it was reflecting the ring light in the photo. While it’s definitely a deep burgundy brown, just as it’s described, it also has some cool plum tones to it (on me, anyway)… I feel like this looks a little different on each person I’ve seen wearing it and depending on your skin tone, it may look cooler or warmer than it does on someone else. As I’ve said before, I love colors like that because they flatter anyone and everyone who wears them, and Hangry can be worn by absolutely ANY skin tone!

Hangry felt very much like Grave Danger… A little more creamy than the lighter liquid lipsticks in the bundle, but still very comfortable to apply. The color payoff is great but there was a little patchiness at first, so I can’t say that it was 100% opaque on the first application. Thankfully, because the formula is easy to layer, it was a quick fix to get full, even coverage! I didn’t have any fading occur until I had this on for about 4 hours and it was in the center of the lip at first. After about 6 hours, I had some slight fading around the edges, but the color clung to my lips everywhere else for well over 8 hours!

Dupes:   There aren’t many liquid lipsticks out there that even compare to how gorgeous Hangry is! The closest I found was Ess-Presso, which is one of MAC’s Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours. If you like a dark lip for fall and winter, this is for sure one that I would recommend picking up!

Liners:   Since this is a deeper shade and can show different undertones depending on which liner you use, you can try something like MAC’s Chestnut Lip Pencil or Bittersweet Pro Linger Lip Pencil if you want to stick with a more neutral to cool toned brown liner. A few more options from MAC are Nightmoth or Currant Lip Pencils, which both have more berry to purple tones, as well as Bespoken For Pro Longwear Lip Pencil, which is similar to Nightmoth but longer wearing. The liner that I like to wear with this when I want something that’s nearly the same color, is Melt’s Edible AllDay/Everyday Lip Liner.

Melt has done it again! By that, I mean they’ve come out with yet another amazing new product with a wonderful, very wearable formula. I know there are a bazillion liquid lipsticks out there these days and a lot of companies have really stepped up their game to make liquid lipsticks MUCH more comfortable to wear, but Melt has gone above and beyond my expectations! The best part about this liquid lipstick is that it’s available in a set with an AllDay/Everyday Lip Liner that doesn’t necessarily match perfectly, but works with the Liquid Set Lipstick shade and compliments the color nicely. Melt’s liners are all very high quality (like all of their products), apply with no drag, and wearing nearly all day long with minimal touchups.

I purchased every shade/set that Melt has launched so far and will be posting all of them in the not-so-distant future. I have a TON of new products to review and post, so I’ll be switching it up day to day, even though I think most of the hot new shit I’ve purchased lately are lip products anyway.

I’m going to get pretty in depth in this post since this is a brand new product and formula, but the following posts for these will be a little more short and sweet. I just want my readers to get the full rundown on these products in case you all are interested in purchasing them!

I hope you all enjoy this post and as always, thanks for reading! Now that Halloween is over with (which is one of my busiest times of the year), I have more time to focus on my makeup blog and have fun with new products! If you’d like to keep up with me and check out everything I’m testing or playing around with, you can follow me on Instagram @lesley_makeup , twitter @lesley_makeup or add me on Snapchat, which is also lesley_makeup. Let’s just start with the basics… The set included Janice Liquid Set Lipstick, Nudist Ultra Matte Lip Liner, and a super cute, very nice little grey pouch featuring the Melt logo. Purchased as a set, this costs $33 but is a $46 value. Purchased individually, the Liquid Set Lipstick is $19 the AllDay/Everyday Lip Liner is $17, and the pouch is $10, so that’s a pretty decent savings if you get it as a set! To purchase these products, go peep www.meltcosmetics.com.

The Liquid Set Lipstick contains 0.12 oz / 3.39 ml of product, which, for the price, is on par with companies like ABH and Dose of Colors. The AllDay/Everyday Lip Liner contains  1.20 g / 0.04 oz of product, so that’s the exact same size as a MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil, and feels like a very comparable formula, but costs $4 less than MAC’s version of it!

While Janice Liquid Set Lipstick is vegan, Nudist AllDay/Everyday Lip Liner is not, which is likely due to the fact that it contains Carmine. Carmine is type of pigment/color additive derived from beetles (you seriously have NO idea how many products contain this, and it’s not as gross as it sounds). However, Melt Cosmetics is a cruelty-free company and neither of these products contain palm oil, which makes me one VERY happy girl!

The formula for the Liquid Set Lipstick is incredibly comfortable to wear and feels liquidy without being too runny or too thick and goopy. Typically, thinner liquid lipstick formulas like this end up being streaky but Janice looked absolutely flawless! I only had to dip the wand into the tube once to evenly cover both my top and bottom lip… I have a feeling that the main factor with how easy this is to apply all comes down to the nifty doe-foot wand. This is NOT your typical applicator! It’s angled, tapered, and has a hollow center to hold and collect the product so you don’t get annoying, uneven blobs all over your lip while trying to apply it. It’s also firm without being hard and soft without being flimsy, so you can achieve a precise application even if you don’t want to wear a lip liner. Another bonus to this formula is that it wore well for a LONG time, only fading in the center of my lips. It’s not the least bit drying either, so it didn’t wreck my lips by the end of the day.

Melt’s AllDay/Everyday Lip Liner is just as nice as the Liquid Set Lipstick! It reminds me of the formula that MAC has for their Pro Longwear Lip Pencils, but Melt’s is even smoother. It glides on very easily and is SUPER pigmented, so you don’t need to be heavy handed at all! It wears well under the liquid lipstick or even when applied over/around the edges for touchups. I’ve also worn this alone with a gloss on top and didn’t have any issues with smudging or feathering even then!

I’ll get into wear time, color, etc in the summaries below, so keep scrolling to check those out!

SONY DSC

They really put some thought into both the boxes/unicarton AND the components themselves with these products. As usual, Melt’s packaging is eye-catching, but still classy and not overdone. The liquid lipsticks have holo print on the boxes but the liners do not. I would have liked to have seen that for both, at least for the sets, but it may have increased the price and I mean come on, most of us toss it immediately anyway! One of my boxes tore a bit, but it’s still super pretty!

SONY DSC

As I mentioned, the bag or pouch that it comes with compliments the shades of liquid lipstick and liner that it contains. The pouches have the Melt logo both on the zipper pull and stamped onto the pouch itself, which is a very soft, suede-like material. Don’t be fooled by their size… They hold a LOT more than they look like they do! I can easily fit a few lippies and liners in there, plus my powder compact for touchups, as well as a mini powder brush.

Now onto the products themselves, starting with some quick swatches.

(For the record, I’m a MAC NC20)

Janice Liquid Set Lipstick:   This shade is described as a “beautiful Victorian Mauve” and is a medium, cool toned mauve with slightly gray-ish plum undertones. At first this wasn’t a color that I was personally drawn to because shades like this usually make me look really washed out, but I actually REALLY love it and get compliments every time I wear it! It has a completely matte finish once it sets and unlike many liquid lipsticks, doesn’t seem to darken much, if at all, as it dries down.

Coverage is full and even with very little product used. As I mentioned, this doesn’t dry down to look much different than it does in the tube, so color payoff and accuracy to how it looks in the packaging is perfect! Wear time is a solid 6-8 hours, even with drinking coffee and having a little snack. As with most liquid lipsticks, it fades in the center first, especially if you eat something like pizza or a salad with oily dressing. As with most matte or liquid lipsticks, it can emphasize dry patches (you can sort of tell in the photos), but exfoliating and lightly moisturizing your lips before applying your lipstick will solve that!

Liners:   Obviously Melt’s Nudist liner that comes in this set is perfect with this liquid lipstick! Other than that, a few good options are Whirl or Plum Lip Pencils from MAC if you want something a similar color. This shade of lipstick can be used with so many liners to alter the color or create an ombre look, so just have fun with it!

Dupes:   As far as other liquid lipsticks go, the closest dupe I’ve found so far is Trouble, which is one of the new ones from Anastasia Beverly Hills… It’s still more of a rosy mauve, though. In the tube, Pure Hollywood, also from ABH, looks similar but once applied it’s much lighter and more nude. Clover from ABH is MUCH more gray/lilac and quite a bit darker. I looked for dupes in the MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip Lipcolours that I have as well and still didn’t have much luck… Sweet Thing was SUPER similar, maybe a little more pinky-mauve and lighter but unfortunately, it was limited edition. So Me is permanent, but is darker and has more neutral brown undertones.

Nudist Allday/Everyday Lip Liner:   This liner is a “neutral nude with a hint of pink” and has an ultra matte finish. It tends to pull a little on the cool toned side for me personally, but it’s one of those colors that looks natural and flattering on anyone and can be worn with all types of lipstick shades from nudes to plums to soft pinks!

You can easily achieve full coverage with this liner using a pretty light hand. I’ve worn it all over by itself or, of course, as a liner. Either way, the coverage is very even and it glides right onto the lip. Color payoff is totally opaque and looks just like it does in pencil form, though, as I mentioned, it tends to work with your own skin tone and may look cooler or warmer on some people. Wear time was between 6-7 hours for me before I noticed any fading or feathering.

Dupes:   I don’t have any of the liners from MAC’s Pro Longwear Lip Pencil range that are dupes for Nudist, but I DO have a few that are MAC’s regular Lip Pencil formula that come close… Whirl is actually a nearly perfect dupe! Stripdown is more brown, and Plum is darker and more cool toned, but looks fantastic if you want to add more contrast with Janice Liquid Set Lipstick.

I know how excited everyone is about this entire line and this gloss is no letdown! I’m a big fan of lip glosses lately, so this is the only Fenty Beauty product I’ve purchased so far. Don’t worry, I’ll probably get some of the highlight and contour products soon and I’ll be sure to review them as soon as I do! For now, I hope you enjoy the post for this Gloss Bomb as much as I’ve been enjoying wearing it!

Since I have more free time to work on the blog these days, I’ll be reviewing a lot of fun new products! If you want to stay up to date with everything I’m testing or playing around with, or just want to chat, you can follow me on Instagram @lesley_makeup , twitter @lesley_makeup or add me on Snapchat, which is also lesley_makeup. Don’t be afraid to message me… I really enjoy hearing from you guys!

Most of the photos are at the bottom of this post, including the list of ingredients.

Fenty Glow (which is the actual shade name of this Lip Luminizer) is a permanent part of Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line, and is available exclusively at Sephora. It sells for $18 and contains 9 ml / 0.3 fl oz of product. While this is about the same price as a lip gloss from other major brands such as MAC, Bare Minerals, Anastasia Beverly Hills, etc, it contains three times as much as most of those do! Even some of the more high end glosses that cost $10-20 more usually top out at 6ml of product, so this is an extremely good value! This gloss is free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates and Fenty Beauty is also, most importantly, a cruelty-free company.

SONY DSC

The packaging is a beautiful light nude type of rose gold that’s eye catching but not overdone. It looks luxurious and feels MUCH more expensive than it is! On the top of the cap, you see an FB logo that’s discrete and adds a nice touch to the packaging. The tube is shorter and fatter than most glosses on the market, but I like this, as it fits into a small makeup bag more easily. The doe foot applicator is also larger than most found in other glosses… It’s very similar to the size you find in Tarte’s Shape Tape concealer. I personally love this because I only have to dip into the tube once for a full application. The box it comes in is just as pretty as the packaging and product itself, with an edgy, yet fashionable look that you would expect from Rihanna. My only complaint about this gloss or the packaging is that, like with most mirrored type plastics, the cap shows every little bit of fuzz or fingerprints on it!

The best part about this gloss is that it’s everything it claims to be. It’s truly flattering on every age and skin tone, extremely comfortable to wear, and nourishing. The color and texture work very well together, making your lips look fuller, healthy and shiny, without feeling sticky or goopy like many other glosses. The formula itself contains shea butter, so it’s going to seriously nourish to your lips while you’re wearing it. I know that for me, so many glosses actually leave my lips feeling almost chapped and dehydrated after I’ve reapplied them over and over throughout the day, but this Gloss Bomb is like an explosion of moisture for your lips! Fenty Glow has no flavor, but does have a faint scent which the company refers to as a “peach-vanilla”, although I just get a sweet, tropical type of vibe from it more than picking up anything distinctly peach or vanilla.

Photo taken indoors using indirect sunlight + a ring light. This was taken after having it on for about 15 minutes so it had melted onto my lips… More swatches and photos below!

It’s honestly hard for me to describe the texture of this gloss… I feel like this isn’t thick or sticky like honey but it’s also not thin and watery like an oil. Perhaps it’s more like honey that’s been warmed up and has melted onto your lips? I don’t even know, but it’s amazing, trust me! Or better yet, go try it for yourself! Anyway, here’s the breakdown:

Fenty Glow is described as a “shimmering rose nude” which is pretty spot on. It’s a medium, warm toned rosy nude gloss with multidimensional, yet mostly golden microshimmer. It gives the lips a fairly wet type of finish, but because the color is more muted and the shimmery particles are so small, it’s not an overwhelming, super duper bold type of shine… It’s wearable for daytime or for a night out. The texture is probably the best I have ever felt from any gloss, not even kidding. It’s very comfortable and almost juicy feeling. It definitely warms up on the lips after a moment, but the big doe foot applicator makes application a dream come true. Although it’s a larger applicator, it still works well for smaller lips because you have a lot of control with it. Also, if you have larger lips, the applicator is big enough and picks up enough product that you shouldn’t have to double dip!

Coverage is full and even, so you don’t get one area of the lip that’s shinier or more shimmery than another. Color payoff is good, but due to the fact that’s it’s a gloss which is made to transform and flatter each individual person, it’s not meant to be opaque. Wear time was actually impressive and I didn’t have touch up or reapply until I hit the 3-4 hour mark, and that was even after having some coffee. Like most lip products, it fades in the center first but you can sort of rub your lips together to even it out if you don’t have the gloss on hand to reapply at the moment. It can feather a little, just like any other gloss, but wearing a liner seems to easily fix that problem.

Liners:   Any and every liner… Honestly! Especially if you fill in your entire lip with your liner, this will make a great topper over ANY color out there! Same goes for lipsticks, too. If you want to add shine and a soft gleam to any of your lipsticks, you can apply this right on top. It doesn’t seem to make any of the lipsticks I’ve worn it over feel sticky either, so that’s always a plus.

Dupes:   Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any! I recently went through my kit and personal collection and tossed a great deal of old glosses, but I can’t recall any that were a great dupe if you want this texture, color, and finish all in one. Since it’s 3am, I’ll go through the ones I still have tomorrow and update this section. MAC’s Dazzleglasses have a similar type of color payoff and shimmer, but I remember some of them feeling much more gritty than this gloss does (Fenty Glow is perfectly smooth). I will be at the MAC counter this coming Sunday and I’ll try some of them out since they have redone the Dazzleglass formula and it’s supposed to be much better and more comfortable now!

Hey everyone! Long time no see, I know, but I’ve been super busy with work, as in glamming people up!

Yesterday I just wrapped on a couple of shoots for a calendar that’s for a local charity, which I will share on here as soon as I get approved images from the photographer. I’m super excited about it because I got to do some really creative makeups as well as some classic looks and they all turned out SO well!

I’ve been trying to come up with a better layout/outline for reviews to make it easier to read when you’re in a hurry, but I still want to cover all the important parts, as always. I think I may split posts between a brief rundown and a more in-depth/how-to, or put the more extensive part below the summary… What are your thoughts on this? I’d love for some input!

Some additional ideas for regularly featured posts are monthly favorites, what’s trending in the makeup world, and adding a skincare feature each week for “Skincare Sunday” of something new or something that’s a must have product for me. I’m working on the whole YouTube thing but I’m still getting the hang of it and learning to edit, as well as overcoming my anxiety with filming (yep, I have anxiety disorder and it flares up PRETTY bad over some things)… Making videos is NOT as easy as it looks, but I’m getting there! I feel like I don’t want to half-ass my videos and disappoint anyone, ya know?

I’ve picked up a TON of new products over the past couple of months, which I’m currently photographing and rephotographing with my new lighting setup… I mean I’m working on it at this moment! So here are some of the posts that will be coming up in the near future:

  • Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette
  • Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
  • Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment
  • Sunday Riley UFO Clarifying Face Oil
  • Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil

  • Melt Cosmetics Hot Box Collection Lipstick in Cherried
  • Melt Cosmetics Hot Box Collection AllDay/Everyday Lip Liners in Kink and Edible
  • Melt Cosmetics Hot Box Collection AllDay/Everyday Eye Liners in Baked and Bloodshot
  • Jeffree Star Summer Chrome Collection Lip Vault (all 8 Velour Liquid Lipsticks and all 5 Lip Ammunition Lipsticks
  • Jeffree Star Summer Chrome Collection Watermelon Gum Lip Scrub

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette (not sure why I never posted it before?)
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Glow in Perla, Bronzed, and Peach Fizz

  • Kylie Cosmetics In Love with the Koko Collection Matte Liquid Lipsticks & Gloss

  • Marc Jacobs Beauty Re(cover) Perfecting Coconut Setting Mist
  • Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter
  • L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara (waterproof and regular formulas)

There are a lot more products too, but that’s just some examples of what I’ve been photographing and testing recently. I plan on slowly posting EVERY Anastasia Beverly Hills Single Eye Shadow, Liquid Lipstick, and Lip Gloss too, as well as a lot of permanent products from MAC and other brands that have been my go-to’s for a long time!

Sometimes it may take me a while to get reviews up after a product launches because I do purchase everything myself, so I have to order it, receive it in the mail, THEN thoroughly test it out before I give you all my honest opinion. It’s also just dependent only work schedule at times, but I’m going to start pre-writing reviews so I can post them even when I’m swamped with other things and don’t have time to write!

I’ve been posting peeks at products on my TwitterInstagram and Snapchat more often and consistently, so be sure to go follow me on those platforms… All are under the name lesley_makeup.

Well, now you all know what’s been going on and what’s to come! If you have ANY suggestions for posts or products you’d like to see, please leave me a comment! I do this because of YOU, so your input is always appreciated!

Thanks for reading!

XO, Lesley

These are one of my favorite matte and/or liquid lip formulas of all time… I said that when I reviewed another color but I’m still saying it because they’re up there with the ABH and Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks, to me anyway! I know people had complaints about this formula when it was initially released almost two years ago, but MAC has fixed all of those issues since then. Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolors are now very smooth and creamy, super pigmented, and they wear forever!

Since I’ve reviewed this formula before, I’ll try to keep this short and sweet! If you want to stay up to date with new products I’m testing or playing around with, or just want to chat, you can follow me on Instagram @lesley_makeup , twitter @lesley_makeup or add me on Snapchat, which is also lesley_makeup. Don’t be afraid to message me… I really enjoy hearing from you guys!

Retro Matte Liquid Lipsticks sell for $21 each and contain 5ml / 0.17 fl oz of product. They are a permanent product and are available at www.maccosmetics.com as well as partner locations such as Dillard’s, Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdale’s, and Macy’s. They’re also available at other major retailers overseas. Oh and btw, MAC is now available at Ulta! As far as I know, MAC is only at certain locations and online, so you’ll have to check your local store or the website for more availability info.

The packaging is a sleek, elongated bullet which is clear, so you can easily see the color of the lippie you’re searching for. The cap is pretty much visually identical to the one on MAC’s classic lipstick container, except this one screws on and off. The inner part of the packaging keeps the liquid lipstick from leaking out and catches any extra product so nothing is wasted. These have a very soft, tapered type of doe foot applicator that allows for a precise and even application, with no extra brush or blending necessary.

The formula for all of the shades is somewhat liquidy, which allows you to play around with it for a moment and evenly apply it before it dries down in roughly a minute. Once it sets, it’s not going anywhere! While I have not put the kiss-proof/transfer-proof factor to the test myself, I have plenty of customers who have tested that out for me and planted a kiss on their significant other right at my counter, and NOTHING comes off! The staying power is impressive, but the best part is that it’s non-drying, even though it wears for 7-8 hours with NO smudging or feathering. When these do begin to fade, it’s usually in the center of the lip and they fade gradually rather than coming off in uneven chunks like some liquid lipsticks do. You don’t even need a liner with these since they wear so well and apply so precisely, although can you definitely use one if you like. Most colors don’t seem to stain the lips but there are a few of the deeper ones that can… I’ll let you know which ones do as I review them individually!

MAC’s claims for this product include what’s listed below (taken directly from their website), which after testing, have proven to be accurate!

  • Long-wearing, eight hours
  • Colour wears evenly and smoothly, eight hours
  • Provides stay-true colour, eight hours
  • Non-feathering, non-bleeding

TIP:   If you feel like liquid lipsticks dry out your lips after a while, as most of us do, make sure you apply a lip balm before putting on your liquid lipstick, and I mean WAY before! I like to put something super hydrating on my lips at least 30 minutes before my liquid lipstick and I just blot off the excess balm so it doesn’t mess up the formula or application of the lipstick going on after it. My favorite right now is Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask because it soaks in really well and quickly and locks the moisture into your lips all day long! I actually just did a review on that product, which you can check out here: Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask.

SONY DSC

Photo taken indoors in indirect natural sunlight. For reference, I was a MAC NC15 at the time.

Topped With Brandy:   This is described as a “deep dirty rose” and is a medium to medium-dark, cool toned dusty rose with a completely matte finish. I’ve seen people of all ages and skin tones wear this and it honestly makes a great every day sort of color on everyone! This is a little creamier than a few of the other shades in this line, but it’s still not too thick, so it’s easy to apply without using too much product or having it end up clumpy. It takes about a minute to set and fully mattify, so you have time to make sure your application is even. As you can see in the above photo, these don’t stick to the inner/center part of the lip very well, which is common with any lipstick and especially liquid lipsticks. Luckily, this problem is easily fixable by applying liner all over the lip THEN applying Topped with Brandy. Color payoff is fantastic but depending on your skin tone, this may look more or less cool toned… But don’t worry, that’s not a bad thing because it sort of adapts to be flattering on you whether you’re NC20 or NW50! Coverage is full and opaque using little product. Wear time was about 8 hours before I noticed any fading, which occurred first in the center of the lip. The fading in that area can happen even sooner if you eat food that’s oily or greasy but it’s an easy touch up!

Liners:   You can use SO many liners with this since it’s a pretty neutral type of rosy color, as in it works on everyone… A few of my favorite MAC Lip Pencils, from lightest to darkest, are: Soar (slightly more pinky and lighter, but it brightens up this lip), Whirl (nearly the same color), Plum (a little darker, more plum and cool toned), Half-Red (darker and more reddish-plum), Chestnut (neutral brown that looks beautiful to blend this color for dark to deep skin tones), and Vino (darker and more purple yet, but makes a nice ombre look).

Dupes:   Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Poet Liquid Lipstick is very similar, perhaps a bit lighter and more pink, but they’re close enough, especially if you pair and layer MAC’s Whirl Lip Pencil with Poet! NYX’s French Maid Lip Lingerie is also similar, but lighter, less cool toned and more pink, and not as pigmented. As far as normal lipstick formulas go, the closest thing I found was Whirl, also from MAC, which has a matte finish but is cooler and more plum.

*** This post expresses my own honest opinion. I purchased this out of pocket and did not receive any type of PR or compensation for this review ***

This is a little different from my usual posts, but I want to start doing more posts about skincare and this sort of falls into that category, right?! I had to take a little break due to my health and while I’ve been away I haven’t worn makeup aside from testing a few new things I got recently… It’s made me realize just how much I was missing in my skincare routine so that’s definitely something I want to focus on more and share with all of you!

It’s so important to have a good canvas to start with before applying your makeup, and with as popular as matte liquid lipsticks are, you have to have something that locks moisture into your lips before you apply that lipstick that’s going to be on literally all day! I initially got this product just to try something new but I’ve been using it for over a month now and I see a major difference in the texture of my lips. As always, I hope you all enjoy this review as much as I enjoy sharing some of my favorite things! Please leave me a comment if you’ve tried it or know of any other miracle lip balms!

There are three shades to choose from, but this post will just be on the clear one. I have purchased the other two, though, and I’ll be reviewing those in the future.

Also, if you want to stay up to date with new products I’m testing or playing around with, or just want to chat, you can follow me on Instagram @lesley_makeup , twitter @lesley_makeup or add me on Snapchat, which is also lesley_makeup. I LOVE hearing from all of you so don’t hesitate to hit me up!

Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask is a permanent product that sells for $26 and is available at Sephora stores (including most inside JC Penney). You can also order this from www.sephora.com. It contains 15 g / 0.52 oz of product, which may not seem that much, especially for that price but a little goes a long way! When I photographed this I had been using it for about 3 weeks already, at least twice a day if not more, and that’s the dent I had left in the tube at that time! I imagine one tube of this is going to last me at least a couple of months, so I feel like this is a better deal than some cheaper alternatives out there, just due to the fact that the ingredients are very high quality and you don’t need to apply this very often at all. If this would have been any other type of squeeze-tube lip balm, I’m pretty sure I’d have run out by now! It does not contain any Phthalates, Parabens, or Sulfates and Bite Beauty is a cruelty-free brand ❤

From the box it comes in to the tube itself, the packaging is simple, yet modern and classy. I appreciate that with this type of product because I feel like no matter who you are, you can use this product and not be turned off by extravagant, bright packaging. The tube itself is your basic squeeze tube, but it’s pretty I dunno, hefty?, which prevents you from squeezing out too much product too easily and wasting it, since you only need a little bit. The tube has surprisingly held up floating around in the bottom of my purse for over a month now, so that says something about the quality of it! When you get it, the there’s a seal over the opening, which you break using the screw on lid. I like that with products like this because you know you’re getting something brand new and sanitary.

Since this is a pretty basic review, I’m just going to pop the photos down below the description and such so keep scrolling down to see those, including the list of ingredients which are all of super high quality and 99% natural!

As I just mentioned, Bite Beauty uses the utmost high quality ingredients. On top of that, all of their products are hand made in house, so when you buy their products, you aren’t getting something that’s going to have any weird chemicals or vary much from batch to batch because the production is from one location, is hands-on, and is closely overseen by people. Since Bite Beauty is also a company that focuses on lip products, I feel like that might have something to do with this literally being the best lip balm type of product I have ever used, and I’m not just saying that because it’s a current, new obsession… I really mean it!

Obviously, this one is clear and has a natural type of finish. The texture is pretty thick, which is probably why it’s referred to as a mask rather than a balm. It honestly takes a little bit of effort to squeeze it out of the tube, but you only need an amount about the size of a peppercorn or metal bb to get plenty of moisture packed onto your lips. Since it’s a thick product that’s not very slippery, I like to pat it onto my lips then gently rub it in with my finger using a back and forth motion because it does need to be warmed up in order to go on evenly.

Another great thing about this being more of a mask than a balm is that once it’s applied, it looks natural and not too shiny or glossy. The less you apply, the less shiny it looks, so this is a product that’s suitable for everyone… And by everyone, I mean all you men out there who need to upgrade from chapstick but are too afraid of wearing something high-end because it might look too wet and glossy! There’s also a stick version of Bite’s Agave lip treatment that’s even less satiny than the Lip Mask is, but I find it harder to apply. I also feel like I have to use more product with the stick type and apply it more often… I’m actually going to review that one soon, too, so that way you all will know more about the differences in them.

With this Lip Mask, you honestly see instant results. After I used this just once and sent a picture of my lips to my best friend the next day, she asked me what I did and said it looked like I’d had my lips filled a little because they were so full and smooth… The only thing I had changed was the fact that I applied this before bed! You see, because of the consistency and ingredients, it soaks in and adheres to your lips without slipping off, so you can apply this before bed, then wake up 8 hours later with smooth, plump (as in naturally, this doesn’t have plumpers in it), hydrated lips. Because this formula is so unique and soaks in so well without leaving your lips slippery or sticky, I find it ideal to wear before I apply matte or liquid lipsticks. When I get ready, I’ll usually shower, apply my skincare including this Lip Mask, dry my hair, then put on makeup, always doing my lips last. That gives this product time to soak in prior to putting on your lipstick so you won’t end up with lips that feel like they’re dry and cracking underneath your liquid lipstick that’s going to be on all day! I don’t usually have a problem with this, but if you feel like there’s a little too much still on the surface of your lips before you apply your liner and lipstick, just blot onto the back of your hand or a tissue. Even at the end of the day after I’ve removed my lipstick, I don’t feel like the moisture has been sucked out of my lips at all… Since I usually end up reapplying this after washing my face, I feel like my lips are never dry any more and in the month I’ve used this consistently, I have not had dry patches or chapped lips ONCE!

I bought this in the other two colors too, one of which is a peachy-pink with a hint of shimmer called Champagne, and the other which is reddish pink, but just makes your lips look naturally pigmented and flushed. I’ll be reviewing those soon, so make sure to subscribe for updates via email or follow me on the social media platforms listed in the beginning of this post to see when those reviews go up.

Overall, I 100% recommend this to anyone and everyone… Especially to anyone who is a liquid lipstick addict! Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip mask will literally change your lips and your life!

Welcome to the best part of this trio of posts covering this collaboration! This one is going to be a brief summary of the products so I can give you all the juicy details and fill you in on how and when to get your paws on the entire bundle.

I know it took a while for me to get this up, but as always, I wanted to extensively test everything so I could give you all my honest opinion. I know I raved about everything in this collection, but I mean it when I say that this is one of the best launches in the makeup world for 2017 so far. It’s honestly going to be hard for many companies to beat something like this!

If you’d like to read the full reviews for the different products in this collection, simply click the links below:

As always, thank you SO much for reading! I really enjoyed testing and playing with everything in this collaboration, so I had lot of fun writing about it. I hope you enjoy the posts for this collab and I definitely hope that you’re able to get it when restock time rolls around! As far as I know, this collection is limited edition. Pictured above are the three products that make up this bundle. That means that when you buy this as a set, you get Eclipse Skin Frost as well as Daddy and I’m Shook Velour Liquid Lipsticks for only $50. This can be purchased on www.jeffreestarcosmetics.com. Normally each lippie costs $18 and Skin Frosts sell for $29, so you’re saving $15 and getting a great deal!

Now for the bad news… As of today, 4/29/17, the bundle is currently sold out, as is Daddy Velour Liquid Lipstick. However, according to Jeffree’s Instagram, the bundle will be restocked in early May! You can still buy them individually, except Daddy of course, so check the little tip below on how you can save some money on these products!

If you use the code MANNYMUA it will take 10% off of the products that are part of this collection! Keep in mind that code only works on the these products individually but does not work on the bundle since it’s already offered at a discounted price… What this means is that if you add I’m Shook and Eclipse to your cart either by themselves or along with other JSC products, the 10% will be deducted from those two products.

As you can see above, the Jeffree x Manny collaboration comes in absolutely stunning special packaging! When you receive this, there’s a sleeve over the box itself that has both the Jeffree Star star logo as well as Manny’s signature crescent moon on it in holographic silver. Once you remove the sleeve, you’ll see a very classy, yet still edgy matte black box with satin finish Jeffree Star and Manny MUA logos all over it… When you flip the lid open, that’s when you might get blinded by the bright, multidimensional, holographic silver insert along with the uniquely patterned/textured boxes! Manny and Jeffree put SO much thought and effort into every single detail in this collaboration, which I really dig! I think it’s great supporting smaller companies that put so much love into their products. I really appreciate it when people want to make their customers feel special and have fun opening a new package that’s been delivered, so thank you, Jeffree and Manny, for bringing that unboxing-like experience to the consumer!

On top of being pretty, both in the boxes and on the face, these products are ALL free from parabens and gluten, as well as vegan and cruelty-free! We all know how much both Manny and Jeffree love their fur babies, so I think it’s great that they show their compassion for animals by making cruelty-free products. ❤

I’m Shook

If you were wondering what happened with shipping delays after this collaboration launched, read the couple of little paragraphs below… If you just DGAF, keep scrolling past until you get to the fun stuff!

I know there was a major issue with shipping delays, which I experienced as well since I had to set my alarm to buy this collection just the same as anyone else did! My package, as well as many others, took nearly two full weeks to show up on my doorstep after getting both an order confirmation and shipping confirmation and tracking number. Was it frustrating? Yes, but it was also worth the wait!

Based on what I learned from the JSC customer service team, as well as what Jeffree Star brought up on social media, there were just too many orders to physically go out to the postal service within a few days, so while you may have received a tracking number, that means it was printed and slapped onto your box of goodies, but it may have still been sitting in the warehouse waiting for USPS to pick it up and send it out… You have to keep in mind that the sheer volume of orders they received and products they had to box up can be overwhelming. Jeffree Star Cosmetics is a small, private company that just doesn’t have the manpower that someone like MAC, Ulta, Sephora, or even Anastasia Beverly Hills has. They ship out of ONE warehouse, not numerous ones that are scattered all over the US like many larger companies have. Basically, they did the best they could and I have a feeling they may not have even expected to have so many orders places so quickly! When I had questions, their customer service was prompt to respond and put my mind at ease. I understand why many of you were put off by the delay in receiving your packages, but try to have patience when restock comes! I promise you that they appreciate your business very much and will get your products to you ASAP. I’m not saying any of that because I was asked to or anything either… My family owns a small business, which I help run, and it is honestly impossible to please that many people in the short amount of time that you’re expected to sometimes!

That being said, don’t forget to set an alarm or two or seven when it’s restock time because I imagine that the bundle will sell out FAST!

Alright, now that we’ve addressed that little problem, please enjoy the photos and summaries below! (They’re actually just copied and pasted from the larger reviews, but I figured this might be easier and more fun for some of you to read).

I’m Shook

I’m Shook:   This is described as a “beautiful medium toned burnt coral”… I’d say that’s pretty spot on but I do think this can look different on some people depending on their natural lip color and skin tone. For the most part, I would consider this to be a medium to medium-dark pinky-reddish-coral. It can pull more warm or cool on different people, but on me it’s neutral to cool toned, depending on the lighting (as you can see above). The texture feels just like Daddy, being the perfect consistency and applying like a dream. Color payoff pretty much looks like it does in the tube, but I feel like it can pull more pink on people with naturally more bright/pigmented lips. I’ve honestly seen this on several people and in a lot of photos and in my opinion, it looks different on everyone, but that’s great because it seems to adapt to be the most flattering shade for your own unique skin tone! Coverage looked a bit patchy when swatched, but when applied on the lips it was completely even and opaque using very little product. Like Daddy, wear time was about 6 hours before I needed a touchup in the center of the lip and a little over 8 hours before I had any fading around the edges of my lips.

Liners:   Because I’m Shook seems to transform on everyone, you can use SO many different liners with it! A couple of my favorite Lip Pencils from MAC are: Ruby Woo (brighter/more blue based and slightly lighter), Redd (slightly lighter and warmer/more orange-red), Follow Your Heart (more blue-based), Chicory (warmer/more brown), Mahogany (deeper and more brown), and Brick (very similar, only a little more of a blue undertone). Anything with a more blue undertone will cool down the color of this lipstick and if it’s also brighter, it will make it appear more pink. If you use a warmer toned or more brown liner, especially if it’s deeper, it will make this warmer and more neutral. You can also use something with a brighter and more orange color to it so bring out the coral tones in this liquid lipstick. It’s very versatile and fun to play around with, not to mention perfect for summer!

Dupes:   Out of all the liquid lipsticks I have, which is A LOT, I couldn’t find one that was a great dupe for I’m Shook. The closest lip product I found in both color and finish is MAC’s Viva Glam I Lipstick, which is only very slightly more cool toned, but it looks totally different and deeper on the lips than it did when I swatched these next to each other on my hand! It is also just a regular lipstick and not a liquid… It is matte, but it’s not going to wear as long as I’m Shook will.

Daddy

Daddy:   The description on the JSC website says that Daddy is a “gorgeous cool toned brown”, which is entirely accurate… It’s a medium to medium-dark, cool toned brown-nude with some slight greige (grey/beige) undertones and a totally matte finish. The texture is super smooth being creamy, but not too thick and liquidy, but not too watery. It applies easily and evenly. It takes a moment to dry, so just be sure not to blot your lips together or it may get a bit patchy but once it’s set, you’re all good! Color payoff is fantastic and it looks just like it does in the tube. However, Daddy can look darker on lighter skin tones and lighter or more nude on darker skin tones. Also, it may pull slightly more warm or cool, depending on your natural undertone. On me, it looks quite cool, but I have a more yellow undertone to my complexion, so that’s to be expected. I like how it looks a little different on everyone, though, because it makes it more easily wearable. Coverage is fully opaque with very little product applied. I got about 6 hours of wear before this began to fade in the center of my lip, but it lasted closer to 8 hours before I noticed any fading or feathering around the edges of my lip. If you apply a liner, you’ll get even more wear time!

Note: Daddy is not in stock at the moment, but I’m hoping it will restock in early May when the bundle does!

Liners:   While a liner isn’t necessary with this formula, if you want a little more definition or contrast, here are a few of my favorite MAC Lip Pencils from lightest to darkest: Stripdown (very slightly lighter & warmer), Stone (cooler/more grey), Cork (almost identical to Daddy), and Chestnut (a little darker). You can also play with color and use one like Plum (slightly darker and more purple-based) or Mahogany (darker, and warmer/more rusty).

Dupes:   Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Sepia Liquid Lipstick is darker, cooler toned and more grey. MAC’s Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Flesh Stone is lighter and cooler, and Cafe Au Chic, of the same MAC formula, is also cooler toned.

Eclipse

Eclipse:   On the JSC website, this is described as a “blinding pale icy peach” which is pretty accurate! It’s a light, peachy-champagne color with pretty neutral undertones, which makes it flattering on any skin tone! Depending on how heavily you apply it or if you use it dry or damp, it can be anything from a sheer, soft sheen up to a blinding, intense metallic glow. The texture is very buttery so it applies and blends out easily without getting patchy at all. Color payoff looks just like it does in the pan, but may look slightly warmer or cooler depending on your own skin tone… That’s sort of what makes this usable for everyone, though, so it’s a good thing! The coverage ranges from sheer to completely opaque, depending on how you apply it which I will explain below. Wear time was a solid 12 hours before I noticed any fading and that applies to the face, body and eyes! My skin has been a little oily and it’s been humid here too, so I imagine that some people may get an even longer wear time with Eclipse than I did!

Dupes:   The closest thing I found to Eclipse is Crushed Pearl from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Gleam Glow Kit, which is a little more peachy. It’s also no longer being sold on the ABH website or at Sephora, so Eclipse it definitely worth picking up! As far as other Skin Frosts go, Ice cold is lighter and more of an icy pearl color and Princess Cut is more pink.
